Lamy 2000 Fountain Pens Reviews
This pen is in a museum for a reason - it’s excellent.
I ordered the extra fine makrolon model. The pen is a bit wide for my taste, but it’s serviceable. It’s a wet writer, but is actually pretty tame with Lamy ink. I ended up loading it up with Rohrer und Klingner Salix iron gall ink so that it behaves well on cheap paper. Because the nib is hooded, it stays wet even when left uncapped for 5-10 minutes. The nib is soft and springy, which makes for a great writing experience.
The makrolon finish feels really great. It’s got a nice texture and warmth to it. The pen is very lightweight, but still feels solid. The capping mechanism feels incredibly satisfying. Speaking of the cap, this is a pen that posts beautifully, though you don’t need to post it, which is rarity in the fountain pen space, it seems.
The pen holds a good bit of ink, and the ink window is pretty handy, while still being discrete. The piston knob disappears into the body of the pen - you can’t hardly see the separation line. The same cannot be said, however, for the line demarking the section and body split. It is very apparent, and is a bit of a black mark on lamy’s typical perfect tolerance and bauhaus aesthetic. Honestly, though, other than that, I cannot really find faults with this pen.

A clean and elegant design, this pen writes cleanly and effortlessly, with subtle feedback. The ink flows very well with no hard starts or stuttering. I am loving this pen right now.

I thought this pen was very unremarkable in photos, and never pulled the trigger. At my first pen show I got to hold one, and my opinion changed immediately. I have never seen a photo that does the pen justice. Also, the material feels great in the hand and the gold nib performs really well. In my opinion this pen is a the best gateway from the world of Metropolitans and TWSBIs to gold nibs.

I became interested in fountain pens over a year ago and after buying multiple introductory pens I had long been planning to buy a L2k due to its design and reviews. It's is even better then expected. It writes very smooth. The pen is beautiful. As well known, it writes broad - a fine writes like a japenese medium. No sweet spot.
Pen chalet is my new favorite company to buy from. They have the best prices from other retailers. When combined with free shipping they are my new retailer of choice. Packaging was impressive and shipping was <48 hours. Very impressed

After years of buying and loving on the Lamy Safari, I decided to upgrade my Lamy game and I am so glad I did. Easy to fill, writes like a dream and travels really well. I have an EF nib and I love it. It does seem to pick up gunk from cheap paper more than some of my other pens, but usually, it writes like a dream.

I got my Lammy 2000 fountain pen M nib today, very fast delivery and customer service was great, I requested that Pen Chalet test the nib and I guess they did provide that service given the fp writes smoothly with no skipping. Very happy. Thanks.

I did my usual cleaning. It skipped right from the first letter. Then today it got wet and the tines had split open a bit. I am retturning it. I like Pen Chalet and am confident Ron will make it right. I own 3 Lamys- no problems. This one has those quality control issues that we all read about. Lamy made a bad pen here.
