Best black on the market. Hands down. Write on any quality paper without issues. And bulletproof to top it all off! I will always have a supply of this and at least one pen inked with it.

PNot your grandma's ink. this is runny. it feathers on almost any paper, even Rhodia and TR. probably only good for fine nibs and under. The charlie pen that comes with it is nothing to write home with. it is very wet and has a nice ebonite feed but the nib is scratchy (Maybe I should try stubbing it). worst of all it has a really thin body so if you don't fill it all the way your hand will quickly warm up the air bubble inside and it will start dripping while you write. not my cup of tea, but should be good for practicing nib grinds and such.

As for the BSB itself - it has a very unique color, but it etches blue into clear plastics. like Noodler's recommends, better match it with one pen you don't mind getting tinted blue and keep it away from your more expensive ones.

After using Noodler's Bulletproof Black I didn't think I'd ever need or want another black ink. I bought Heart of Darkness because of the great reviews, the great value, and because I read that it is good on a wide variety of paper qualities. I also wanted the free pen ;) After 3 weeks of use: the ink really is fantastic (I think I may love it more than Bulletproof Black), and I love the little Charlie pen so much I'm trying to justify buying more 4.5oz bottles of ink. Before filling it up, I took it apart and cleaned it well with soapy water, rinsed, dried and reassembled. It writes like butter and holds a ton of ink. Very happy with this purchase and these products.

I'm a fan of Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin, but since I was out of N'sBBM, I thought a large bottle of Heart of Darkness with it's free "Charlie" eye-dropper fountain pen would work just as well. The pen is a small, cheap looking fountain pen, BUT it works great :=). Nathan T., this is wonderful little pen. I've got an Ahab, which is a step above the Charlie, and it works excellent also.
The Heart of Darkness ink seems wetter then N'sBBM to me. HOD flows well in the two pens I've inked it up with. It's a warden's ink which I want in my black inks. I am pleased with this whole package, the large quantity of ink, the eye-dropper that is included and of course, the Charlie pen. That little pen is so cool because it works so well :-)

Of course I want more, and I've started giving these as gifts because of the free pen. Just tell those you give it to to fill up the Charlie as you would any eyedropper when you've used up three quarters of the barrel. In fact, keep it filled always by buying the 16 ounce bottles and then the gallons when N.T. puts them out!

Noodler's Roller Eel ink is really just lubricated Noodler's heart of darkness. It takes a while to dry on less absorptive material like cardstock and may even smudge after. The included rollerball pen is fantastic and does okay with polar ink too.

I have yet not used it but know it will please me to no end. Get this, along with the ink I received

for free except a cold or subpoena. What a deal. Many thanks. As to may rating, whom am I to judge. I stand by the product.

I think Noodlers ink is great. I love the dropper on the bottle. Good basic black ink.

Flows well. Doesn't feather. As black as can be. Effectively waterproof. The built-in eyedropper is handy -- its only drawback is that it means the bottle opening is small, so it's harder to fill converter pens with this ink.

This ink passes the water proof test! The signatures on documents are safe. It photo copies well.
