Noodlers Bottled(4.5oz) Fountain Pen Ink Reviews
It's darker than what I've seen online and that's a good thing for me. I really like the color, and I look forward to using it in something other than the Charlie pen it came with. Looks like it's a good workhorse ink for my dry pens. But it does bleed through cheap notebook paper. Probably won't do that with a finer pen...and Rhodia paper.

The Charlie pens rare work for me, they all quickly start burping ink no matter what I do to the nib or how I preheat the barrel with the nib up. But the huge bottle of ink is what I'm really buying anyways, and I just use the Charlie pen to sample the ink before I ink any of my working pens. I wish Noodler's sold more colors at this size. That eyedropper is really handy for my Opus 88 Picnic!

This ink is black, waterproof, is rated eternal/bulletproof, flows well, lubricates the nib's motion across the paper, cleans off the skin readily, and doesn't stain. There isn't much more one could ask of one's ink.

I know not everyone likes Noodler's ink, but I love it. I have many of them and I like most of the ones that I have. They are awesome and do what they are advertised to do.

Very wet ink. Blackest black I’ve seen. Some feathering on cheap paper. Quick drying. Perfect for this lefty.

I have Noodler’s Black and Heart of Darkness. Noodler’s Black works pretty well on cheap paper and I haven’t had it dirty any pens. Heart of Darkness bleeds more, but it works well in a preppy marker as a sharpie. Noodler’s Black is not very dark, but heart of Darkness is very dark black. The eyedropper bottles are useless unless you’re filling an eyedropper pen. Black does not include a Charlie Pen. Heart of Darkness does include the Charlie.

I bought a few 4.5oz bottled Noodlers ink. The primary reason I bought this size is for the eye-droppers for each color I would see myself use regularly. I have heart of darkness, bay state blue, Nikita and Dragons Napalm. Most of the 4.5oz bottled ink price is not as competitive as the general 3oz versions, if you just compare the price per oz cost. All 4.5oz bottles come with a Charlie empty eyedropper pen. The Charlie's concept is great, which also inspired me to convert my Ahab into an eyedropper. But the Charlies cannot write well. I got a few Charlies from my 4.5oz bottle ink purchases, but I will soon put them all away because none of them could write well and I am not an expert to tinker with the Charlies to make them behave.
Cost wise, getting the 4.5oz bottle version is still a better deal because I don't want to separately spend money to buy glass eyedropper bottles (not as cost beneficial).
I use Noodlers ink in all of my fountain pens. The Noodlers ink feathers and penetrates into cheap papers (Staples branded loose leave, notebooks and their cheapest copy papers). So, you should expect to write on one side of any Staples papers and the backsides are basically rendered un-writable. I also have tried Noodlers ink on Hammermill general purpose copy papers. The ink does not feather as much compared to Staples papers, but still penetrates into the papers, so, you can only use one side of the Hammermills.
While Noodlers inks are one of the least expensive in the market, but you will end up using more papers for general purpose writing. I don't have other inks for comparison. I hope other buyers post their own findings to share their experiences.
I have do not used Noodlers ink for drawing, as such, no opinion on this ink's quality on artwork.

A great value for a great ink.
the only fault I can attribute is my own, because I thought that this ink was one that came with a Noodler's Charlie pen, and while I was not disabused of this notion by the representative I spoke to when I ordered, I cannot fault Pen Chalet, only my own ignorance. Noodler's Black is a great ink, whether there's a free pen included or not.

A great black - dark and lasting. Not too slow drying. Smooth flow and feed in all my pens save one Pilot. It is the ink for Conklins. I also use the Antietam red. A good solution to the iron gall side effects in a permanent ink. Clean you pens regularly!
