Noodlers Bottled(3oz) Fountain Pen Ink Reviews
Baystate Blue - this ink stains. Careful. It may also require a dedicated pen. It clogged the fine point pen I tried almost immediately. It is a bright blue but only a bit brighter than Diamine Sapphire Blue. The Baystate Blue is bound to flow in something so I will keep trying. It may require a broader tip. It is reportedly waterproof. I use Noodler's Black in most pens - without incident. I doubt would load the Baystate Blue into a valuable pen - ever.

This stuff is a great color and it shades brilliantly even in fine or stingy nibs. It's very flowy. Here's the big warning: bleach your feed before you try to use this. If your feed had any residual inks in it, they will make this into a pukey color. Drove me nuts for three different pens. I'm sure it's worse the better the feed; ebonite I just gave up on. It doesn't take much bleach, like a half tsp in a glass of water, but let it soak. When it's shading, it has a range from a golden toasty brown to a pale yellowy orange. I can take it more seriously than orange or pink inks.

I love the illustrated labels on Noodler's inks, as well as the full bottles and that they have a range of colors and properties in their products. This particular color seems inspired by the name of the former Fed chief, rather than the Democratic presidential candidate, though this is unclear. The glass bottles are back, the caps fit tightly, pens go into the bottles right down to the bottom, the price is just fine, and what more could a fountain pen user ask?

This is my first red ink so I don't have any basis for comparison to other reds. However I find it to be a pleasant red with nice flow. I've been using it in a pilot metro with a medium nib, and it is a great experience thus far. This ink is intended to be a quick drying ink, and it is just that. Also, the label art is just cool to look at and a fun conversation piece.

Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Rose should be called what it is, red. I was hoping for something with a little more color variation and deeper character. Perhaps I'm just not a good perceiver of reds but they all look very similar to me and this is no exception.

The Noodlers ink is my ink of choice. My everyday ink is Baystate Blue, LaCouleur Royale, Dragon Napalm and Forest Green. I dedicate pens to the first colors as they seem particularly resistant to being cleaned out. I use the red and green to grade papers as they vibrantly emerge from my students papers. Noodlers is, I feel the best bargain in ink today. I love the fact that this is an American company that harks back to the New Bedford area.
