My favorite ink has always been Waterman, but as I have used Monteverde ink, I believe in is on par with Waterman and maybe better. The Ocean Noir is in my pens now.

I purchased the Smoke Noir, Jade Noir, and Olivine.
The Smoke Noir is a really cool grey - on coated paper it looks almost like a weak black. On absorbing paper, it’s a Pencil-lead grey. The ink flows well, but does not tend to bleed through absorbent paper.
The Jade Noir is a really dark blue-green. It’s definitely an evergreen type color. It flows well, but does bleed and show through a bit on cheaper paper.
The Olivine is an incredible color. It’s a dark olive green that shades super nicely. It flows well, but doesn’t tend to bleed on cheap paper.
The bottles are fine. They will function well, but they are a bit boring. I wish they were packaged in an opaque box, rather than the clear plastic box that they come in, in order to protect from light over time. However, especially at the buy 2 get 1 free sale currently being run, it’s tough to complain about.

Monteverde Document Black- The ink itself has a very nice flow to it. But it is NOT black. It actually dries to a dark grey color. It has a very high resistance to water. But highlighter ink smudges the ink. That said, I would not say it's completely permanent. The grey color is quite pleasing to the eye if you like a rich grey color. Would I buy it again? No. Will I use it? Yes, it does make for a lovely everyday work friendly color. Just not as permanent as I needed. Flow is excellent, reasonable dry time, no skipping.

Using Copper Noir in a Monteverde steel nib pen that tends to be dry. No smearing or skipping.
Color is spectacular: dark, robust copper that photocopies well. Shading variation in pen line is striking.

California Teal was the first Monteverde ink I purchased. Great green color (more forest green than teal), and lovely red sheen. Love the flow of the ink and the color. Makes writing a lot of fun.
