Piston filling mechanism got stuck inlocked position and now the pen is absolutely worthless and cannot be filled. Apparently this has been a common issue with this pen that I didn't know about.

I picked up the Monteverde MP1 with the Omniflex nib out of curiosity—I wanted something that could add flair and line variation to my writing without breaking the bank. After weeks of daily use, I can say it delivers a lot more than I expected.
Let’s start with the Omniflex nib itself. It’s a steel nib designed to flex under pressure, giving you line variation and character in your strokes. It’s not a vintage wet noodle, of course, but for a modern flex nib in this price range, it’s impressive. I’ve used it with several inks (including Sailor, Wearingeul, and Taccia), and it handles well with all of them. It gives a bouncy feel—not overly soft, but responsive enough for expressive writing and gentle flourish.
The flow is generous but not messy, especially with wetter inks. I’ve experienced no hard starts or skipping, even after leaving it uncapped for a minute or two. The nib writes smoothly even with light pressure, so it can double as a standard writer too.
Build-wise, the MP1 body is lightweight but sturdy, with a clean, modern look. The grip section is comfortable for longer writing sessions, though I do wish the cap posted a bit more securely. It’s a piston filler, and I’ve had no issues with ink flow or cleaning. It has generous ink capacity for longer writing sessions so you don't have to refill as often.
Looks and feels more premium than the price. Also, I really liked the Coal Grey Color since I love matching fountain pen inks to the body and I have so many grey ink color variations to choose from for this fountain pen.
Final thoughts:
If you’re curious about flex writing or want to add flair to journaling, signatures, or headings, the Monteverde MP1 with Omniflex is a great entry point. It punches above its weight and makes writing genuinely fun. Just don’t expect vintage flex levels—and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I really like this pen. I am recently into flex nib. While the (steel) Monteverde Omniflex nib can't compare witb, say, a Pilot 14k gold FA nib. But it is enjoyable to write with. I do like that it lays down a wet line that is comparatively narrow (compared to a B nib). I've been into sheen inks lately and this pen shows them off wonderfully.
