Empty (almost) ink bottles are good for a quick swab on your card, and maybe a one word ink writing sample. Otherwise the wide mouth bottle is good for using it for water to clean your pen when doing a dip sample. Because its glass, its also good for transferring some ink from a smaller bottle that is plastic or has a small mouth opening.
