Pelikan Mount Everest 640 Special Edition Reviews
This pen is an incredibly smooth writer and has a very attractive design. The gold sun on the grey background is really nice. This is my second 6xx series Pelikan and I love the size and the way it writes. I really cannot complain about the price being a 6xx, a special edition and an 18K Pelikan. Wrote great out of the box. I paired it up with J. Herbin's new Stormy Grey to match the color scheme. My only complaint about this pen is the lack of an ink window. I think that any piston pen should have a window on it. I can see the fill on most of my converters other than the odd squeeze one, and all of my piston or vacuum filler either have windows or are demonstrators. This is the only pen I currently have which had no way of checking whether the ink is running low. Still a great pen and I carry it all the time (with a backup).

The Pelikan Mount Everest 640 Special Edition is a beautifully designed addition to my pen collection but more than that, it writes as if I have been using it for years. The smooth flow of ink and the glide of the nib make this pen instantly one of my most attractive pens. I am already using it regularly. Very impressive!

I saw the special on the Pelikan Mont Blanc pen and decided to get one through Pen Chalet. Their service is beyond reproach. The pen writes quite well, its smoothness and handling are the best so far. I use fountain pens during my school years, now I try to enjoy writing and calligraphy. I used dip pens in addition to fountain pens for my writing. Writing the Pelikan Mont Blanc is an unique pleasure. Due to my limited experience with expensive fountain pens I cannot say that's the ultimate. The fountain pens I used so far are Pilot Vanishing and Falcon model, Hero, Parker 45, Lamy Safari, Studio, Conklin Herringbone. The Pelikan model is worth of the expense. The Pilot Falcon and Safari Studio with medium nib are also good but their prices ranges are different, therefore comparing them to the Pelikan Mont Blanc will be unfair. But if you have 280usd to spare and willing to spend that amount in pen then the Mont Blanc model is worth considering as long as the deal is still available at this site. I will look for opportunity to try the Parker Premier or Shaeffer Heritage in order to comporare their smoothness and "writability" with this Pelikan. "Hey you never know" they said.

I saw a special for this pen on the website; I has been looking for Pelikan fountain pen. I used Pilot/Namiki, Lamy, Conklin, and Noodler. When young I used Pilot, Hero and Parker but at that time you don't have time to appreciate their qualities. So far the Pelikan is one of the smoothtest pen. May be later I will compare with the other brands' pens such as Parker Duofold or Shaeffer Legacy. Grab one when it's on sale.
The service is top notch.

FAQs about the Pelikan Mount Everest 640 Special Edition
Q:
Can this pen be engraved?A:
It is possible to engrave the outer cap sleeve (the cap only - for the Fountain Pen or Roller Ball) but We don’t recommend engraving the barrel – the cap should only be engraved by an expert, of course.Q:
Are the gold and silver lines on the body of the pen coated in something so that the lines do not fade or rub off from daily use over time? A:
The barrel of the Pelikan 640 Mt Everest fountain pen is coated with a clear coat that protects the pen and keep the silver lines from rubbing off from normal use of the pen. Q:
How would you change the color of the ink (clean inside of barrel) if it is piston fed?A:
You will need to clean the old ink out of the pen by flushing it. First remove the ink inside the pen. Second you will need to draw warm water into the pen and then flush the water from the pen using the piston mechanism. Repeat this until the water from the pen runs clear. Let the pen dry and then add the new color ink.
