Originally created in 2011, the Noodlers Ahab has been one of their most popular fountain pens. Each pen comes with a #6 steel flex nib and a piston slide converter fill mechanism.

Noodlers Ahab Video Script

This is the Noodlers Ink Ahab Flex Fountain Pen. It comes in a white cardboard box and a Noodlers logo, and other designs on the outside of the box. This particular pen is the blue lapis version of the Noodlers Ahab Fountain Pen, and it comes with chrome accents on the pen, and it has that swirling marbling pattern on both the cap and the barrel. It's going to be unique for each of the pens. They are all a little different just based on how that pattern comes out when they turn the pen.

On the top of the cap is a thin chrome band that transitions to a chrome colored clip. That clip has a Noodlers Ink logo on it. Then on the bottom of the cap, we have a thick chrome band with Noodlers Ink engraved on that as well. The cap is threaded and unscrews. It's a good size pen. You don't need to post the pen to use it, but you can if you'd like to. Makes it pretty long. Then you can see that chrome colored nib on the pen. It also has Noodlers Ink Co. engraved on it. And to change the ink on the pen, you simply unscrew the grip section from the barrel. It's got a piston or plunge style converter to fill the pen, and it allows you to use bottled inks in different colors of your choice. As I’ve come to expect and respect about Noodlers products, the price and functionality of this pen is hands-down well worth the price of admission. Though not keeping up with today’s business model of wringing every red cent out of his customers that he can, I believe Noodlers with their wildly flexible pens has made ‘pen tarts’ out by of many who might otherwise not become fountain pen geeks. Penchalet and Noodlers are doing the fountain pen industry a great service.

There seems to be a lot of love or hate for this pen in the fountain pen community. My experience so far has been very good, so much so that I have 5 of these pens. Each one dedicated for specific Noodler's ink. A pen with this size and girth, ebonite feed, a semi flex nib and ability to hold a ton of ink for around $20 is hell of a value.

One of my favorite pens - the Ahab fits my hand, is the correct weight, handles nicely and best of all, even on bad days writes easily. I have arthritis so my hands are very finicky and I needed a pen that I can use on good days as well as bad days. This pen fits that bill.

Great pen! I admittedly have been swapping nibs out on this one, but in general, Noodler's flex nibs are wonderful. Ahab is a good size, even for smaller hands.

No there is not a option for the music nib on the Noodlers Ahab. It only comes in the flex nib option. The Noodlers Neponset has the music nib option.
