I loved everything about this pen as it was my first slip cap pen before the pilot e95. I would have even say I even liked it better than the e95 because this pen was made of a metal body and had some heft to it. I like a hefty pen. However, there are pads inside the cap that after the nib sprung a leak one day I cleaned out the cap for and these pads came out and lo and behold they were the only things keeping you pin to be able to post or put the cap on, period,at all. So now the pen is ussless because the cap won't stay on posted or on the pen nib/front and I can't get these pads to glue back into place. Another useless pen unfortunately. I also didn't think the nib was that great and I exchanged it for another nib.

This pen is a great writer but I am little sad that mine is mostly the brown and not as blended with almost no blue, but I do like the way it writes. If you want a certain color scheme, maybe buy in person so you can get the coloration you want.

The Monteverde Dakota I received didn't have very many different colors. It is sort just flat grey. Not impressed. Not like the pictures.

I purchased both the military green and the raw flame Dakota. Raw flame one is beautiful; however it is a gift and was much appreciated! I kept the C-47 one with its invasion stripes and dark green military livery. It's quite the pen. Very aerodynamic in feeling. The clip reminds me of the wing of the WWII aircraft and the shape of the pen is evocative of the fuselage of an airplane. There's even a propeller etched into the cap of the pen. The pen's cap slides on and off with little effort and sits so solidly on the pen. It feels so natural in my hand and it writes beautifully. In keeping with the military theme of the pen and in honor of the C-47's role in D-Day, I chose to ink it up in Noodler's Operation Overlord.

This is a fun pocket pen. Reminds me of the Pilot E95s. My only complaint is that it did not come with a cartridge converter so I couldn't ink it up right away. I wish the description had said to order a converter.
