Hinged style lid which lifts open. And inside is some standard international ink cartridges for the pen, and of course, the Montegrappa Fortuna Heartwood Fountain Pen. This is the teak color. It's a dark, almost a black woodgrain look. You can see woodgrain on the pen if you look closely, with a dark rose gold trim. On the top of the cap is the 1912 Montegrappa logo. A small roller at the end of the clip on the pen with the Montegrappa engraved on the band. Slight curvature on the cap of the pen where the barrel just kind of tapers down to just a plain end on the very end of the barrel of the pen.
The cap is threaded and it unscrews. You can post the cap on the pen, don't necessarily need to, it's a pretty good size pen without it. Same rose gold color of metal on the section that matches the rest of the accents on the pen. You can see the nice large threads is like where the cap threads onto the section. And of course, you can see the nib of the pen with the Montegrappa logo with that Montegrappa honeycomb pattern once again, and you can see the feet on the backside.
It's a cartridge converter style pen. To unscrew, you unscrew the section, and included with the pen is an ink converter or those cartridges, which I showed you earlier. Those will work as well. So it's a cartridge or converter, whichever you prefer. Great pen, great design. Get your Montegrappa Fortuna Heartwood Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!
