About Abyss Consul Guardian
The Consul Guardian Fountain Pen is the most substantial and architectural of Consul’s three writing instrument collections, pairing a stronger, more assertive silhouette with the brand’s contemporary approach to material, proportion, and craftsmanship.
Designed and produced in Yerevan, Armenia, Guardian is built around proprietary decorative materials developed and produced in house by Consul. Because of the nature of these materials, the exact distribution of color, pattern, and reflective elements can vary naturally from one pen to another, giving each writing instrument its own individual character.
Within the Guardian collection, Nightfall introduces one of Consul’s most distinctive decorative techniques. Developed specifically for the model and inspired in part by traditional guilloché, the process creates a sculpted three-dimensional relief directly on the surface of the pen. The relief is then hand painted and sealed beneath a crystal-clear protective coating, creating remarkable depth rather than the appearance of a flat printed design.
Nightfall was the first Consul pen produced using this technique and features a full moon motif. As the pen moves and the viewing angle changes, the transparent coating enhances the dimensional effect, giving the moon the appearance of a finely crafted inlay suspended beneath the surface.
Consul combines precision manufacturing with manual production and finishing processes, including decorative work, inspection, and final assembly. Guardian Nightfall requires multiple hands-on decorative and finishing stages, making it an especially involved example of Consul’s approach to individually crafted writing instruments.
Each Guardian fountain pen is fitted with a stainless steel JoWo nib customized with Consul branding and uses an international standard cartridge/converter filling system. A Schmidt K6 converter with a secure screw-on attachment and a Diamine Oxford Blue ink cartridge are included, allowing the pen to be used with bottled fountain pen ink or compatible international standard cartridges.
Presented in packaging created specifically for the Consul brand, the Consul Guardian Fountain Pen combines bold form, proprietary materials, thoughtful engineering, and carefully executed decorative work in a design with unmistakable presence.
