TWSBI ECO Fountain Pens Reviews
My first TWSBI. Economical and smooth. Two design defects. Knob is easy to turn accidentally, causing ink discharge. On mine, I had to sand down size of knob in order for cap to post.

My first fountain pen. The pen is working well. I am learning how much fun changing inks and experimenting with color can be. I will be buying more TWSBI pens with different nibs to continue my experimenting.

This pen writes very smoothly and I swear holds an entire jar of ink in one go. Only drawback is the piston twists easily and could drip if turned. Will buy other styles of this pen in the future.

I have a few assorted TWSBI pens in my collection. I like them all. They are beautifully made and great writers. So...when the ECO and ECO T models came out, my OCD side came out and I have to have each color. To go with whatever shirt I'm wearing, of course! I get compliments every time I carry one. The "demonstrator" barrel always grabs their attention. (Yes, the ink color coordinates with the pen.??) Always glad I shop at Pen Chalet!

I absolutely hate the Eco with 1.1 stub that I received. Plan to return it.
I've liked other TWSBI Eco pens and the Eco with non-stub nibs is quite good. with different nibs. This is the first Eco 1.1 stub I've tried and it may just be this pen in particular. The 1.1 mm stub nib is not particularly crisp like a cursive italic in the sense that there isn't a lot of crisp line variation. It's also not particularly smooth to write with. It's actually really scratchy and cuts into the paper repeatedly. It's smoother but by no means smooth if you hold it at a really low angle, i.e. by holding it half way up the section to somewhere on the threads but it is still nowhere near what I would call a smooth stub on an absolute basis, particularly adjusted for the amount of line variation. I've had number of hard starts and skipping with go to inks like Noodlers Heart of Darkness.
If you want a nice 1.1 stub, and the pen I got is representative of a Eco 1.1 stub, I'd suggest you get a Lamy Safari or Al-Star and buy a 1.1 Lamy stub to go with it. Buy the nib from Pen Chalet or another reputable dealer as opposed to one of the cheap Chinese "Lamy" knockoff nibs. I wish they sold the Safari with the 1.1 stub instead of having to buy is separately. It's a FAR superior pen and a far superior nib. Great line variation and really smooth. The 1.1 can be used as a daily writer even with not particularly large handwriting.
I will be returning this Eco.
Like all Ecos the pen body, filling mechanism etc are really well made and look really good but the nib is a disaster. This is the first time I'm trying a Eco 1.1 stub so it's possible I got a defective one. TWSBI Ecos with other nibs are quite nice.

I love this pen. I am an engineer and love to see the inner workings. Even the EF nib is so smooth. Well worth the money.

A few years ago I got a TWSBI 580 for my birthday, and it’s the only pen I’ve had that isn’t fussy with my Organics Studio Nitrogen ink, so I knew TWSBI made good pens & good nibs. So I decided to give this one a shot too. SO glad I did!
EXCELLENT PEN! I got an EF, because I like a really fine line, and it does not disappoint! It writes so smoothly, not all scratchy like some other EF’s, and it’s super reliable. No hard starts or sudden stops. And it holds plenty of ink too. This has become one of my new favorite pens, right alone with my Acrylic Konrad & my Vanishing Points!
I ordered another one, to have a spare...

Well, I thought I had purchased a vacuum fill pen, but was pleasantly surprised with the piston fill mechanism. Not having to have an adapter is wonderful, and I don't get the dry out that vacuum fill pens have due to the negative pressure needing relief. I like this pen a lot and carry it with me everywhere.
