Platinum Preppy Fountain Pens Reviews
I bought this for my 9-year old, not expecting much. But the few times that I’ve used it, it surprised me with how well it writes. It is consistent and smooth, with that typical Platinum feedback. It’s a good value and an excellent starter pen for adults and children alike.

According to its price, this is an excellent pen. It writes so tiny and not scratchy at all.

It's a Preppy. Best value for money fountain pen there is. Great pen to have round to test inks when you aren't sure if they will damage a pen. Great for handing out to people who want to try out fountain pens. Quality of the writing experience puts pens 20x it's price to shame. Can be eye droppered pretty easily for gigantic ink capacity.

I love these pens, I'm amassing a small fleet of them. They are great for trying out new inks. The nib is the same great nib you see in other inexpensive Platinums like the Prefonte. The build of the pen guards against the ink drying out, so I'm free to have a boatload of inked pens without much maintenance. This is one of the best cost-for-value items I have ever bought. The only downsides are they look cheap and you need an adapter or a converter to use them with other companies' ink. The great thing is they come with a cartridge which you can empty and refill. I was planning on doing that but I ended up liking the Platinum ink so much I will just use it up. Cannot overstate how great these pens are.

I have about 5 or 7 preppies, and these pens are amazing. they consistently write very well, and come in so many colors. The price point is on the low end almost to be disposable. However, if you treat it well, you can continue to use refills!

While I didn't expect much from such inexpensive pens , I was indeed amazed at how smoothly these pens write. WHile I have additional pens that cost subastantially more, I love using these pens on a dialy basis in my office. I ordered a blue pen for blue ink and a black pen for black ink. I use the blue pen virtually all the time at my desk while I use the black pen to sign documents. I have now been using both pens on a dialy basis for just over a week and remain most impressed. Lightyears ahead of the Pilot Plumix......

I bought 2 of this Preppy pens. One works perfect and really smooth, the other one had the nib unit already felt off. After reinserting the nib, it would not write at all.

This is not my first pen, but I've heard so much about the preppy. I've bought many cheap "disposable" fountain pens, just because they are convenient (especially when traveling. I like the preppy for its price and it is an excellent pen for the price. Writes great and you can use cartridges (proprietary, but still...). Haven't converted it to an eyedropper, but I would pick up another if I needed one. Might try the eyedropper technique if I get adventurous--I've done it with a Pilot Varsity and worked great.
