Amazing pen. F nib provides a bit of feedback depending on the paper but is also really smooth. The smoke acrylic is also a great color and looks almost black when filled with ink. Writes perfectly out of the box.

I have had my 823, fine nib, for roughly a week now. Straight out of the box this pen wrote - and writes - brilliantly. The nib glides and the pen is neither bulky nor thin despite the voluminous ink capacity. My first inking, as it were, lasted me a week and I have written with this pen everyday and rather extensively. Furthermore, the 823 is without question the best fine nib I have ever used, and I speak as someone who has something of a fountain pen addiction. It's a traditional looking, cigar-shaped pen (I have the smoke edition which to my eyes is black). Simple, but superlative. If I had to recommend one pen, this would be it. And if I had to recommend one company from which to purchase the Custom 823, Pen Chalet is it.

I am absolutely in love with my Pilot Custom 823.. are use it daily I don’t pamper it. At first I was apprehensive, but this is my everyday carry.
It writes so smooth. The ink flows so beautifully onto the paper. I am so happy with that and I am happy that I purchased it from Pen Chalett because their customer service is amazing.

I've wanted a gold-nib fountain pen for years. The Pilot Custom 823 was worth the wait. This pen checks all of the boxes. The nib is so smooth and wet that I can barely feel it moving across the paper. Ink capacity is terrific. Weight, balance and grip diameter are all near-perfect. The 823 is extremely comfortable even for long writing tasks.

The vacuum filling mechanism requires a little getting used to but it's not problematic at all.

This is my most expensive pen yet and it it so worth it. The amber color is elegant looking especially with my brown ink. The fine nib writes extremely smoothly. It is very comfortable to write with and I have small hands. I have to practice filling it but even though I didn't get it completely full the first time, it will last many pages. I love it. Treat yourself!

Easily one of my favorite pens. I ordered a F nib. It was exactly as I had expected and functions really well as an office pen. I subject it to regular office copy paper and there is no bleed through. Fit and finish of the pen was great.

This is a great pen. I had been wanting one for about a year before I finally bought one. This pen is far and away the best pen that I have ever written with. Right out of the box I knew this pen was one to keep. The filling mechanism, ink capacity, style and design of this pen are out of this world. If a person wants a daily writer that can be used for a lifetime, one needs to own one of these pens.

This is a Very Nice and Smooth Pen. I have the Broad sized nib for this particular pen because I haven't used a Japanese nib size this large before - my others are all Fine and Extra-Fine, with a sprinkling of Medium. The ink system is okay. I'm more a Converter Kinda Guy, so this takes a little practice and getting used to filling. Once you are familiar with filling the pen, it is pretty much a breeze and the pen holds a good amount of ink as well.

My favorite, favorite pen. The M nib is smooth and the overall writing experience is fantastic. Only could be tedious to clean if you are used to cartridge/converters. I don't mind. It's just more time with my favorite pen. :)
