Opus 88 Koloro Fountain Pens Reviews
I love the size and look of the Koloro, however, the nib is scratchy. I had to smooth the nib on a fine nail/file buffer. Also this pen is a poor starter. I have to dip the nib in water several times to get the ink to flow consistently. I expected a lot more since this pen costs $75.00 on sale. Somewhat disappointed. I won't be buying another OPUS 88 product.

While I have converted other pens to eye droppers, this is the first one I have owned that fills this way exclusively. The steel F nib is quite smooth, and I like the shutoff function to prevent “burping”

This pen is well built for the great price I paid for it. I got the yellow/orange version, which wasn't exactly the color I had expected but it's nice in a quirky way. (The yellow is more green than I expected.) It holds a ton of ink and the nib is quite smooth. However, I did immediately swap it out for a stub Jowo nib and housing that I had on hand, which was very easy to do. The flow is wet (which I like for stub nibs) as long as I remember to open up the stopper. This mechanism does its job in preventing burping, a common issue with eyedropper fillers. I had my pen roll in a car on a road trip and in the end, all the other eyedropper filled pens leaked a bit, but the Koloro was clean as can be. The ebonite does have a rather peculiar smell... like vitamins. Not terrible, just a little odd.

I will say that overall this is a pretty nice pen. The build quality and detailing is quite nice -- on par with higher-end TWSBI pens, for example. It has a very satisfyingly solid feel to it, and some heft, too, which I personally like. The styling is nice, too. Some thought went into the design.
The nib on my pen came with tines misaligned enough to make line quality pretty badly off. It was a minor issue to correct, however, and once I did that things improved quite a bit. It also took some time and effort to get the ink flow adjusted properly. The way the pen works, you open the stopper valve by a bit when you want to write. I learned quickly that if you open it too far you get a ridiculously wet ink flow; not enough, and the pen gets rather scratchy pretty quickly.
On that latter point, my experience thus far is that the pen is prone to more hard starts than I'd like -- more than most of the other higher-end pens I own. I'm not sure if that's me not using the pen correctly, but I kinda doubt it.
I'm not displeased with the pen. It does put-down a very nice line, although I'd rate the Jowo F nib to be more like an M -- I wish it came in EF. I am ordering a Goulet EF nib to try with it.
I do think I'd recommend this as a fun little pen to try. I've been enjoying it, and it seems to have found a spot in regular rotation with my daily writing.

These pens are really nice. Nibs are smooth, flow is great, the choice of color combinations of acrylic and ebonite seem odd at first but are quite sophisticated. Workmanship is superb - amazing pen at this price!

I bought this for my husband who is a pen nut. He loves it. HE SAID: Modern look. Feels solid in build. I like being able to see the ink level through the body. Good grip. Weight is balanced with and without posting cap on the back. Medium nib creates good line variance. Ink doesn't dry out.

I purchased the blue Koloro (and ordered the corresponding Colorverse "Depth" ink with it), and I have been very happy with it. It took a little while to get used to the filling style and how it effects the overall flow, but once I had a good feel for it, the Koloro became one of my main, go-to pens.
I really really like ebonite, and it looks and feels great here. My only complaints are that I'd prefer if the grip were made of ebonite too, and the 3+ turns to uncap it is a bit excessive.
Also, one day I forgot to close the plunger before putting the pen in my pocket, and the endcap/piston-knob broke off! I know I know - I'm a total bonehead for doing this, but I wish it had been a little more resistant :\ I was able to superglue it back on, and it works (and looks) perfectly again... but secretly I feel a little dirty knowing there's glue in there holding it together. Oh well what can ya do. Nothing I guess.

This pen feels really nice in hand and the length is not too long for my small hands. The Ebonite parts feel warm and the filling mechanism is very easy to use. Nib is smooth as expected of JoWo nibs however it has more spring than my other pens with the same nib brand.
