Opus 88 Koloro Fountain Pens Reviews
I'm a big fan of the Opus 88 fountain pens, especially their sealed-eyedropper filling system (which is very friendly to airplane travel). I think of this as a Koloro Demi as it is smaller than the full-size Koloro pens, which is a good thing as it has features those pens lack. Unlike it's larger sibling, this pen's cap actually posts, although posting makes it a little back heavy. It also sports a smaller #5 nib instead of the larger #6, but that's not an issue as both nibs are good performers, if fairly stiff, and offer little in the way of flex. The green/tan version is sharp looking IMHO. This pen definitely has an equal place with its larger brethren.

I mainly collect Pelikan pens from m120 to m1000, and a few Sailors. I rarely buy pens in this price range, except for the occasional Kaweco, Esterbrook (vintage model J), and Sheaffer( vintage). I tried a TWISBI before, but the pen felt rather cheap and the quality was lacking. However, the Opus 88 Koloro blew my mind. It wrote exceptionally well and has a quality build. I would even dare say that the quality is on par with Sailor and Pelikan. I ordered an extra fine nib, and it wrote better than even my 14k-21k gold nibs. Must own pen, even if you have higher dollar pens like I do.

This is my first eye dropper pen. It took me a little bit of experimenting with the control knob and center bar that control ink flow. I ordered the Blue Tan with a fine point nib. The fine point nib is a smooth writer. I enjoy writing with the pen. I have not experienced an issues with the nib. The Koloro has a very nice feel in the hand. The pen is nicely balanced whether you are writing with the pen posted or un-posted. It's a pen that is worth the price and the service from Pen Chalet has been great.

I have really enjoyed this pen. It is very lightweight, but is a good size and has a nice feel. Impressed by how smooth the medium nib I ordered is, and how the line is just right — not too wide, not too narrow. It is among the 1-2 best steel nib pens I own. Surprised Opus isn't talked about more. I got it on sale, and it was well worth. Also, holds a ton of ink.

I do like the dedicated eyedropper concept with the release valve. It works rather better than my attempts at "eyedroppering" cartridge pens. This is a good pen, if a bit on the large size for my personal taste. Unfortunately, I think the fine nib on this was a poor choice for me. It seems more like an extra fine, and is a bit of a dry writer. I later got the Opus 88 Picnic model with a medium nib, which is more like what I would consider an actual fine, and suits me much better.

The filling system is intriguing, but if you like to post the cap of your pen, you may find this one too top heavy. The sections don't fit well together. The pen is overpriced for its level of quality.
