It looks crude, but writes like a dream!

I love this pen. It is excellent for twice the price. I get a smooth flow (extra fine nib) that keeps up with me even when I write fast. The feel of the pen is light and the grip so easy to use. I am getting old and my grip is not as strong as it use to be so the pen design is a real plus. The customer service at Pen Chalet was also wonderful. My first pen had a nib problem and they very quickly got me a new pen out. Could not be happier.

Very smooth writing, well balanced for it's light weight. Smoother than some of my other fountain pens that cost five times the cost of the Lamy Safari. For customers that want striking visuals, the charcoal Lamy won't win many beauty contests. But the function is superb!

The Lamy Safari is an excellent starting fountain pen. I am a fan of their EF nib size. It has written flawlessly with any fountain pen ink I've used in it. The converter works well and holds a good amount of ink for my writing frequency. I see this pen always making it into a rotation several times a year due to the fact it always works, and I can rely on that.
It is also easy to clean. Just be careful and mindful of how the feed fits back into the section if you remove it.

I purchased the Lamy Safari Charcoal with a black, fine nib. The pen is very light in hand, it almost feels like a high-quality disposable due to the plastic construction. However, the matte charcoal finish is simple and looks great with the black nib. Everyone is surprised by the smoothness of the nib when they borrow it. The sturdy pocket clip and pop-off cap make the pen fantastic for quick writing tasks. I use mine with the proprietary Lamy converter so I can use my bottled inks; the enclosed Lamy blue cartridge is sitting in my drawer waiting for use someday. The grip section is really skinny for my larger hands, but the angled grip forces my fingers into the correct position (including those who borrow the pen for a moment). That's a nice feature for a new fountain pen user like myself. I'll keep this pen inked with colored ink to use for grading essays as the lighter body and smooth nib will make my extensive writing tasks easier on my hands. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase, and the Lamy Safari will be an everyday use pen that I'm not too concerned about due to its low cost. A decent value, this is a great entry to fountain pens, and a good tool for everyday pocket carrying.

I haven’t used a fountain pen in over 40 years. While cleaning out a box of old pens I came across a broken fountain pen and it captured my imagination. I had the urge to write with one and I purchased a Lamy Safari (yellow). I really enjoy writing with it. I particularly like the triangular grip and its light weight. I think it’s a wonderful pen. I now have fountain pen fever.

It was a gift but had a chance to write with it. I love it and might have to get a green or purple one if they have it. Nice ink and doesn’t smudge for a lefty like me.

This was my second LAMY/Safari purchase. Why blue? It's my favorite color. Why Fine? I didn't have one. I felt if was a good member of a usable collection of pens. It writes well, it's comfortable, and it's affordable. Now I need some coordinating colors—perhaps a red and a white? Everyone needs a couple of Safaris.
