Lamy Ink (50ml) & Pink Safari Fountain Pens Reviews

have heard great things about Lamy pens from different friends in the stationery community on instagram, so I wanted to give this pen a try!
My first impression is that I love the sleek design. I immediately wanted to test it out. It felt very light weight the second I picked it up, which I prefer for a pen on the go!
The design feels really well thought out and stands out to me because as soon as you hold it, you can feel the grooves are made for your fingers to rest perfectly! It feels like a lightweight plastic but the metal clip feels super secure. It feels high quality. It comes with a bottle of black ink, five black cartridges, one blue cartridge AND a refillable converter. I prefer converters because you can play with more ink options this way. The converter is of great quality, and it was really easy to twist and fill. The pen has zero skip! And the ink doesn't get fuzzy on tomoe river paper. Which is my favorite paper for using fountain pens. I also tested it on my 160 gsm paper from notebook therapy in my bullet journal and it doesn't skip or get fuzzy on that paper either. I prefer a fine nib pen in most cases and I feel like the nib of this pen hits closer to an extra fine nib, but it really just glides nicely so that really makes up for it. I used the black ink bottle, which almost has a deep purple hue. It doesn't bleed through any of the papers I listed above either. It is actually a really great basic black ink that would fit great in anyone's collection.
I think what I love the most about this pen is the value. This is such a great starter pen and I highly recommend it for the person who is just starting out in the fountain pen world. It's a great starter kit that comes with everything! And the color options for this pen are wonderful.

I bought several of these with 1.5 mm stub nibs after testing one to make sure the feed could keep up with the nib. I use them for sketching and have different inks in each pen. Now if Lamy would make a converter that would hold 2+ ml of ink they would have a five star setup. Converters need to come into the twenty first century. At present nothing beats a Noodlers Ahab converted to an eyedropper filler or a TWSBI Vac 700 to keep a plein air urban sketcher happy!

This is my first fountain pen with an italic nib, and so far, I love it. Love the line quality, love the shading in the inks I'm using, love the way the pen fits my hand. Between this and my Al-Star (also acquired from the speedy and attentive folks here at PenChalet, and also fantastic), I'm a Lamy fan for life.

I love these pens - the colors are fun, they write well -- and the service from Pen Chalet is great.

My first lamy pen. I went with the stub nib and I was very impressed. The nib is very smooth. The pen is a little on the light side weight wise. The grip is very comfortable but on the small side for people with big hands. It would be a great starter fountain pen for people getting into fountain pens. It is also versital as you can easily swap out different lamy nibs. So far I have just used the lamy ink cartridge provided and though it writes wonderfully I am not a big fan of the lamy ink provided. I recently purchased the lamy converter so I can use different bottled inks going forward. I would recommend buying the converter when you buy this pen as it is not included.

Well-balanced with nice ergo accents, classic styling and a smooth writer right out of the box at a great price. This one will definitely be in my daily rotation for a long time!

Sharp looking pen. Safaris are some of the best "inexpensive" fountain pens out there. Plus, they feel good in my hand. This is my second one, and matches a journal that I purchased. Just a great pen. The clip works great, too. Designwise, it's modern without being a design that will go out of fashion anytime soon.....because it works.
