Conklin Stylograph Fountain Pens Reviews

I have not liked this pen. The nib had issues, but I thought maybe it was the ink I chose. I thoroughly cleaned it, and still did not have success. I ordered a replacement nib of a different size, and it, too had issues. I gave up on this pen, and I wish I had tried to return it. I'll either try my own hand at nib tuning with it one day or find someone that will buy/trade.

The body was also a bit back heavy to me with the cap posted, and unposted was not as comfortable to write with.

I have grown to become a major fan of Conklin pens and the Stylograph is my favorite Conklin, with the exception of the clip. It has to be squeezed to clip it to my pocket which I keep forgetting. To my surprise and delight, the medium nib writes conservatively and lays down ink more like a fine nib. If I could quit forgetting about the clip this would be perfect.

This is my second Conklin Stylograph fountain pen, and I love it as much as I love my first which has the Tropical Blend resin. I just like the different blues and the white colors in a matte polish. I spent some days at Thule, Greenland, and the Arctic ice had various hues of blues as well as white ice, and that is what this resin reminds me of - those days in the frozen north with the most beautiful ice. I had to align the nib's tines a little. It writes like a dream, now, and is the kind of smooth, wet writer that I like. Both pens have fine point nibs that write just a shade finer than American fine. I love the vintage-based style. Both Stylographs are among my favorite pens to use for letters and journaling.

Another beautiful Conklin pen. I really like the stub nib. The pen is a good size and writes beautifully. Bargain here at Pen Chalet.

Looks great, made well, and overall enjoy the pen.... HOWEVER.... I really had issues with the nib. Crazy skipping & flow problems. Pen Chalet was great & sent me a new nib & feed replacement. But, still had the same problems. Ordered a Knox #6 nib as a replacement & is MUCH better. Still have the odd skip/flow issue. Think the feed is part of the problem too. This seems to be a common gripe with other reviews I have read. So, be aware you might have this problem as it's not uncommon. Funny the only issue is the one thing it really needs to do well... WRITE lol

The nib on the particular pen I was sent was a black coated nib, and the coating began to peel within a few weeks of purchase. Pen chalet was wonderful, sending me a new nib. So while I will not be doing any further business with Conklin, Pen Chalet's excellent customer service when I did have a problem has lead to me being a devoted customer.

I was purchased for me as a gift through the Pen Chalet, I had learned many years ago that once one uses the same pen day after day, the nib wears down to his style or writing. This makes it difficult for anyone other than the pens owner to use the pen with the same fluid grace without misses and streaks. To break in such a device, it take a while, and I proudly use my pen, it draws attention (excuse the pun) and the weight, and ease make writing and note taking exciting.
Only a fine pen such as this can inspire me to practice my handwriting, learn new fonts and methods and inspire my fellows (which included my wife) to adopt this new fashion accessory and skillset.

Oh wow, what a missed opportunity to make this into an oversize pen. It is a larger than normal pen and long when capped. I thought I wouldn't like it because the grip is smaller than the barrel, but it's a Conklin so I trust them over there. I initially wrote with my fingers partially on the barrel and grip section but then suddenly realized my fingers were on the grip section completely and it was just fine to write with. I bought the fine and stub as usual.

Mosaic/checkered designs don't really suit me but Conklin did such a nice job. It's colorful, classy and old fashioned looking,but in a fancy distinguished way. I wish they had an oversize version but this pen is still on the big side. No problems writing and posts securely but not deeply.

Use it for work, home and anywhere. It's a Conklin so it will function in any setting and any use. The nibs as usual are wonderful if you like smooth writing with no skips, hard starts or any problems.
