I liked my Vanishing point, but it was not an every day pen. I added a stub nib unit to my cart....yep that just made my VP an everyday pen.

This review is for the fine point rhodium-plated gold nib. I had purchased a VP that only came with a medium nib. I liked the medium nib, but the notebooks I have to use at work required a pen that isn't quite so wet. Purchased this to use, and it writes great and is compatible with the notebooks I mentioned. It's now what I use at work on a daily basis.

I purchased a STUB nib to switch a Fine nib that came with the Pilot Vanishing Point pen I purchased in Japan about 15 years ago. The nib installs very easily, a no brainer. I was expecting a smoother feel to the nib, but it is a bit scratchy as compared to other STUB nibs. The tines appear to be aligned and some work on an emery fingernail file board did seem to help a bit. I don't know if this "scratchiness" is a characteristic of all of the Pilot vanishing point STUB nibs or not or it was only the one that I received.

I prefer black nibs for distraction free writing so I got an Extra Fine black nib to use in a chrome trimmed VP. It writes the same as the original rhodium nib and looks better. I wish replacement nibs came with protective caps for safe keeping when not in use.

I have two Pilot VP pens: a relic from 2000 and a new Twilight version. Both came with reg nibs that included the "cartridge cap." The addition of the 1.0 stub nib in stealth black is a great addition and is swappable with both pens. I was however disappointed that this one did not include the cartridge cap with this nib/converter duo.
