Monteverde Bottled Ink(90ml) Fountain Pen Ink Reviews

this is a true black ink very bright rich color. never bleeds lays down well. and flows very good. hits the paper a medium wet and drys fast. this is the 5th color of monteverde ink that I use. all extremely good ink. you can not go wrong with the Monteverde brand.

The Monteverde Copper Noir ink is great, with good flow and nice shading, depending on pen and paper. In certain instances it actually does give an impression of copper. This is similar to another of my favorites, Diamine Burnt Sienna. Recommended for those who are into the brown shades.

This is about Monteverde Motivation Emotion Orange, I like the colour but the ink left a sludge product on the nib and feed of my pen a Conklin Nozac, very hard to get off. This is the only ink of Monteverde that this has happened with so I would not recommend this particular ink.

I really like this ink, great flow, some decent water resistance in a sink water test, reasonable drying time for the pen's wetness and great blue to royal blue color on Rhodia white paper.

I got several different colors and I have to say that while not the sheen monsters of Organic Studios, these are really good inks! Very well behaved no matter if I was using a EF to a Broad. There is just a touch of color change, sometimes so subtle that you wonder if it's the ink or if there is a reflection off of some passing car or the planet Venus but it's there. Some of my pen pals have stated that they like these inks better because of how subtle the color change is. I see their point. Don't get me wrong, sheen monsters are great, but lets face it, that probably won't go over well with the boss.. Or the in-laws. Perfect inks for those occasions.

I'm not too enthused with the result of Monteverde's Blue-Black having read the reviews but I'm conscious of the target this ink is marketed to. I ran this through my everyday writer, a Conklin Duragraph; Fine nib, and my initial reactions to it: smooth but very light and watery. Next, I ran it through a Medium nib thinking it was possibly my pressure and that I possibly needed more ink onto the surface area of the contact point, to no avail; I just got a thicker line with an even less than impressive Blue-Black presentation (as opposed to it's "Vibrant" marketing).

Granted, the ink dries fast and when I purchased it at $13.00 a bottle it's friendly on the wallet as an everyday ink; I'd done a refill in about a week and some change before refilling. The ink would probably fair better on thicker parchment but when you're writing on office steno notes and writing/ jotting notes for 4-5 hours a day, it's lacklustre and I feel like the ink, once dried, looks like I wrote with water colors all day. The value of this ink would be that it's relatively cheap('ish) and does a competent job flowing to the page but it's end-result and presentation leave much to be desired.

Nice ink. Seems slightly less viscous than others. Slightly bolder lines because paper tends to feather a little easier than with other inks.
