I really love this pen box. The quality of the fit and finish is great. I agree with other reviewers that the elastic keeping the pens in is too tight at the two ends. I'll guess that they don't make it more slack because they expect the elastic will loosen over time. Since I have a variety of pens, I put the thinner ones on the ends so it's not a problem. For my largest pen (a Leonardo), it's a snug fit but it fits. The tray slides out easily, but it's doesn't slip right out either so no worries of accidental spillage. Even if the case got tossed and the contents fell out, the elastic would hold the pens down. The case is very sturdy. I store mine upright on its side and it's just fine like that. I plan to buy another one!

It's pretty alright. If you have more than one or two oversized pens then you're gonna have a hard time fitting 10 in here. I have a mixture of sizes with only one large pen (not even oversized) and I'm struggling to pull the pens on either end out. If you have a pen with notches or something like the Monteverde Regatta where the end of the barrel is small than the rest, its a bit of a pain to get it in. Best thing about it is that you can take the inner tray out and use it as a tabletop display while also holding your pens securely.

After looking at this Dee Charles 10-Pen Box for the last couple of years, I finally purchased it last month as I needed a place to keep my inked-up pens protected, yet easy to get to. Construction is impeccable, it looks nice and performs awesomely. I love everything about it except the smell. There is considerable off-gassing, and with the advice of the great team here at Pen Chalet, I separated the two parts and put them in the garage to air out for about a week. I could still smell it after that from 3ft away but now, a month later, I'm happy to say that it has gotten even better and I expect it will continue to do so. The box arrived tightly wrapped in plastic so I suspect that there was no chance for the odors to dissipate between manufacturing and sale. It's a wonderful design that perfectly meets my needs, well made, and fairly priced. Very happy I finally bought it.

Dee Charles is a little known treasure. I have looked at the 2 and 3 pen cases for a while, and liked that they are not 'me too' copies of every other case out there. When I saw the 10 pen case, I flipped. It is beautifully made and has MAGNETS! I love magnets. The front of the case has a pull out drawer for the pens and is secured by two magnetic flaps. This the only case I have that I cane use for display (either by setting the pull out tray on top or just pulling it out from the front so half of the pens are exposed) and use it to carry pens.
