Parker Pens

About Parker

Country: United States of America

Parker pen company has always been an innovative company beginning when George Parker created the Lucky Curve fountain pen. The company has continued to carry this spirit and vision throughout the more than 125 years they have been making writing instruments. With his first pen, patented in 1889, George Safford Parker created a system that returned ink into the reservoir using capillary action and reduced ink leakage.

Over the years the Parker pen company has continued to create innovative writing instruments. In 1939 the Parker 51 fountain pen marked a major achievement with it's hooded nib and a fast drying ink. Considered to be the best pen of the century.

Parker pens come with a 2 year warranty. Warranty information is included with each Parker pen. For details on a specific Parker pen fee free to ask.

Pen Chalet is an Authorized Dealer of Parker pens and writing instruments.

Parker Reviews

Sonnet
This review is for a matte black GT Parker Sonnet fountain pen with a medium steel nib: I was very pleased to find out how smoothly the pen nib glides over the paper. I think this old-classic pen is somewhat under-appreciated by the fountain pen lovers. The pen is well balanced with enough weight and writes very well with the cap posted or un-posted. The converter is a piston-action system (no twisting) with a small floating metal ball inside of it to facilitate the more effective re-filling maneuver. The whole length of the pen with the snap cap posted is about 51/8" and sits well in my shirt pocket. The pen looks simple but functional.

Quink Bottled Ink(2oz)
This is probably a biased review since I have never used anything but Quink ink. It has worked well in my pens for over 30 years and I have not felt a need to change. The service at Pen Chalet was very good. Items arrived well packaged and on time.

Another in a line of outstanding pens, this new Big Red duofold writes smoothly and feels very comfortable in your hand. Plus, it is a great looking pen.

Duofold International
This pen took me a bit to warm up to....

Always liked Parker, currently own 2 others, and the Duofold just kept calling my name.

At first look, it didn't blow me away. The detail on the pen is much harder to make out than in the promotional photos. Looked kind of plain.

However, I put it against my Waterman, Pilot, and Franklin-Christoph's and it seemed to be just a touch more shiny. Just a touch more substantial than a basic 100% resin pen. Just a touch more detail on the nib, on the cap, on the clip.

Unscrewing the body and finding all metal pieces are gold and gold tone...

These little touches of fine detail make this pen one of my favorites. The parts contribute positively to the sum of the pen.

Read reviews that "Parker isn't what it used to be," but there's always going to be those people...

The Duofold is a top notch, high attention to detail, classic pen with a long heritage behind it.

One thing I don't like is that Newell Brands is very proud that they now own Parker and stamp their name in the manual, reminding you Parker isn't "what it used to be" in a sense.

Also, I wish I went for a Centennial. The International is excellent, but I'd personally wish I went for the Centennial after handling the International and getting a sense of its gravitas. If you enjoy "regular" size pens, you'd love the International.

Writing with the fine nib... it can be smooth, but not like buttery smooth. A hint of feedback to let you know you're writing.

With that said... I can whole-heartedly recommend the Duofold for those with a sense of history and classic taste. It will never compete with flashy models and swirling resins, but this pen has serious class and heritage.

Sonnet
Writes smooth, Perfect weight for daily writing and classic looking at the same time. I was a little concerned that some users at Fountain Pen Network complained about skipping, poor ink-flow, etc. None of them turned out to be true in my case. I am very happy with my purchase.

I also would like to mention that Pen Chalet's customer service has been awesome. Thank you.
