This was my first foray into the mid-budget pen world, or one topping a $100 price point. I saw it, loved it and splurged. It is gorgeous. It did not, however, write directly out of the box. The nib wasn’t seated properly and the tip required some tuning to get it smooth. I am fortunately a tinkerer, and long ago acquired the necessary tooling to tune my own nibs. However, if I was new to the hobby, this would’ve been a major setback. Once the nib was sorted however, the pen writes in a way that says “fine writing instrument” not just “pen”. It also has a nice heft to it, and the resin is so nicely done it almost appears to be a fine jade. Appearance, presentation and feel, five stars. Functionality right out of the box, two stars. I’d still highly recommend it.
