The Van Dieman's Wilderness fountain pen ink has been inspired but the majestic and beautiful wilds of Tasmania. This series is an extension of the original Van Dieman's Colours of Tasmania to encapsulate the natural colors of the southern isle of Australia.
Each dye-based Van Dieman's Wilderness ink comes in a 30ml glass bottle.
Note: Two colors within the series contain shimmer - Azure Kingfisher and Hastings Caves.

This review is for the Black Tongue Spider Orchid of the VD Wilderness Series. It is a nice plum color I used it in my Lamy 1.1mm and it was slightly lighter than when I used it in my Lamy M nib which came out a darker color which in my opinion and for my use, I liked better. It did not feather, bleed through with either pen and had no hard starts. It is not quite purple or burgundy but something in between. I do not know if I would use this particular ink again as for me, it is not my taste. I prefer something bright like the Sailor Fuyi Sugata or the Montegrappa Harry Potter Knight Bus Purple.
The ink is a quick drying ink so I could write the next lines rather quickly and overall performs well.

I love this ink. I use red when I review and mark up documents and the Firetail Finch is absolutely brilliant. It is a deep, vibrant red that really gets your point across. It flows well and I’ve had no issues with it at all. The bottle is epic too. I definitely recommend.

The color I purchased has a strange and amazing connection to me which I will get to at the end. The color is a rich, deep blue which just plain, ole looks good on the page. Flow is consistent and smooth with a hint of shading. Being from Australia gives the ink some extra points. Van Dieman's is assembling quite a collection of wondrous colors and a collection is lacking without at least a few. Robert Oster has some competition. I have the Devil's Kitchen, named for a lake. I fish at a lake in Southern Illinois by the same name.

I purchased the Eucalyptus Regnans color, and I like it. I need to try some samples of Van Dieman’s ink as it isn’t a brand that I’ve really used very much. But I enjoy this color! Nice ink!

I'm crazy about this shade: Azure Kingfisher. It's the first Van Diemen's ink I've tried and I'm a fan. This one is incredible, how it goes down onto the page blue and as it dries the light chartreuse shimmers rises. I need to try other Van Diemen's shimmers.

Van Dieman's Wilderness ink in Azure Kingfisher is a beautiful medium turquoise with a gold shimmer. When first using from the new bottle, not much gold gets drawn up, so the shimmer is very intermittent, but this will improve as you get further down in the bottle. The color is so nice, you won't care. Good quality ink.
