About the J Herbin 1798(50ml)
Similar to their 1670 inks, the J Herbin 1978 fountain pen ink has a similar bottle with a few exceptions. The opening is larger, the wax top is thicker and Jacques Herbin logo is engraved on the bottom of the bottle.
The initial color in this new line of fountain pen inks is the color “Amethyste de l ‘Oural” (Amethyst of the Ural Mountains), a rick deep purple with a silver sheen. Inspired by the gemstone trade of the 16th and 17th centuries.
The newest color is Cornaline d 'Egypte, a brilliant orange with silver shimmer particles. Derived from the gemstone Carnelian, or Cornaline in French, a gemstone often used in Royal Egyptian Jewelry.
In 1798 the French Revolution was ending and a new era began. Herbin, the commercial establishment founded by Jacques Herbin in 1670, was relocated to Rue des Fossés-Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois in Paris.

J Herbin 1798(50ml) Reviews
These are stunning inks. I have the blue (kyanite) and it is perhaps my favorite blue ever. I'd have it in half of my pens if only they could handle glitter, but some pens just clog too quickly with any glitter at all. It has shading, sheen, and shimmer, so that in my stub nibs it shows amazing character. So eye catching. I strongly suspect I'll be getting the purple and orange, too, even though they are a bit expensive. Fortunately Pen Chalet has them at a good price, so this is the place to buy these jewels.

I love this ink, however I let it stay put for months before I use it. I do not like the metal.

I love the Jacques Herbin Shimmer inks. They're all stunning. I think I'm working my way into getting the entire 1798 & 1670 collection!

Really like the J. Herbin line and the Cornaline de Egypte is a great shade of orange with a nice shimmer.

This ink is beautiful, and they finally improved the 1670 bottles, which is great. It’s a purple with an excellent silver shimmer, and some good shading. I love this ink. Only downside is the cost.
