Very smooth, and a beautiful dark black. These tend to write a little wet, so be careful about smudges, but they are a great value for the price.

I have been a Montblanc pen user and lover since 1970. I bought the Uni-ball Jetstream gel pen and love its smoothness. I attributed it to the gel ink. I was wrong. I went to the Montblanc refill web site to complain that they don't have gel ink ball point refills. I saw the refills by penchalet and ordered two. Sadly the ink skips and the flow seems labored. It makes the Montblank ball point refill seem heavenly.
