Great fountain pen - I like the feel and the weight of the pen. The medium nib is a little wide for me, but I still use it daily

Very, very impressive and smooth writing pen for thirty some odd $$.. And it's a Pelikan! Great pen for the money and service from Pen Chalet was excellent. Considering this is Christmas season, I was surprised at how quickly this order arrived.

Basically an o.k. pen. Still deciding on it. I think I'm going to end up liking it pretty well. Too bad it doesn't include a converter.

High quality, affordable writer that is smooth as silk. I wouldn't expect anything less from Pelikan. This will become my everyday writer for quite a while. It would be helpful if the cap posted, but it's not enough of a deterrent to prevent anyone from purchasing it. Fantastic addition to the Pelikan family.

A Pelikan nib for less than $40.00? Pinch me, I'm dreaming. Wow, it's true! A friend had recommended Pelikan pens and I was looking for one that was affordable to try it out. Very nice pen. Good, solid construction. Very simple design. After the requisite flush of the new pen, it has performed flawlessly. Lays down a nice wet line without being too wet. The black outline "beak" clip is cool. The word "matte" has been used in the description but it has a glossy finish over those layers of matte silver. Lot's of depth. Very happy with it. AND, you can never go wrong making a purchase at Pen Chalet!

I have had a little trouble getting the Stola III to write consistently. Appearance and feel of the pen are good. Wish it would become available in fine point.

Recommend it? Absolutely!
In my book, every pen has a purpose. Some simply to jot a note or scribble a receipt signature. Those that I designate for the art and pleasure of writing have a "higher" calling. Lately, those types consisted of very particular roller balls and to a lesser degree pencils. But I have chosen to go back to my roots of writing-the fountain pen. I grew up with cheap plastic 'school' fountains and delighted when cartridges came about. I advanced to Parker fountains with both cartridge and ink well adapter. I loved that pen-it drew and wrote most of my school work. While stationed in Europe, I happened to pick up two Aurora Hastil fountains-stunningly beautiful in my eyes. Then came roller balls and I was seduced away. Until two weeks ago when I encountered someone using a fountain. And the love affair started all over again. I wanted a pen for work, not expensive and very reliable-pop off the cap and it's ready to work! I searched the web, and came upon Pen Chalet and this Pelikan Stola III. Wasn't Pelikan some cheap deal that one buys in office supply places? This fountain is smooth, with a medium nib that flows the ink evenly and immediately. The pen's weight is just right in my hand-heft w/out fatigue. And I so love the 'snap' of the cap. I'll purchase another to carry outside the office, since the Auroras stay home. I also purchased the inks for it and my old Auroras. Pen Chalet has been quick to deliver and I will continue to do business with them.

Pelikan Stola III Video

Video Script

This is the Pelikan Stola III Fountain Pen. It comes in a grey, cardboard box. The Pelikan logo's printed here on the upper corner of the box lid, which lifts open and of course we have inside the Pelikan Stola III Fountain Pen.

All metal components on the pen, the barrel and the cap, the clip, it's all metal. It has a silver matte color and a glossy finish over that silver matte. Black accents throughout the pen, black clip. You can see on top of the cap the Pelikan logo's printed there in black and then you can see that clip design has a hole here, in the clip in the front, and that clip wraps around both sides and meets in the back of the cap.

Pelikan is printed here at the bottom of the cap, it has a small black band between the cap and the barrel of the pen and at the bottom of the barrel is just a black, little resin cap. The cap on the pen snaps off and it cannot really be posted on the pen. It doesn't feel real secure to me so it can come off, it's not a real secure post but it is postable if you'd like to. Probably would use the pen without that cap posted. The section on the pen is a black, glossy resin finish. It doesn't feel like there's any ridges or anything to get in the way of my grip, so I like the way that it feels in my hand.

The nib on the pen is a stainless steel nib, you can see the Pelikan logo engraved on that nib and the section there on the backside. It's a cartridge converter style pen so to change the ink you unscrew that section from the barrel of the pen. And included with the pen is an ink cartridge, it's an Edelstein ink cartridge and those are a little longer than typical ink cartridges. So the barrel of the pen is actually not real long but it a will accept an ink converter. So if you want to use bottled inks, you can buy a converter for the pen and add that later, either the Pelikan or some of the other standard universal ink converters will work with the pen.

Like I said, it's just a a great starter fountain pen, pretty inexpensive price, the performance on the pen is outstanding, it works really well. I really like the performance of it and the design. Get your Pelikan Stola III Fountain Pen at PenChalet.com!
