Guaranteed Quality
Each Esterbrook Phaeton 300R Fountain Pens we sell is guaranteed to be genuine, authentic and will arrive brand new & unused!
The cap is metal with a brushed matte finish and a gold clip. On the clip is the Esterbrook logo. The top of the cap is just a plain resin to match the pen. Nothing special at the bottom of the barrel of the pen. The cap has a compression fit. It has a spring feel as it snaps into place. Actually, there is no snap it just slides into place and catches and holds nicely. The cap will also post on the end of the pen if you would like to. The pen has a thinner diameter barrel, but the length is nice. You can write with the cap posted or unposted, whichever you would prefer.
There is a ring between the section and the barrel of the pen that matches the color of the nib and the clip on the pen. It has a hooded nib that is gold plated. And then, the pen has a piston style or plunger fill system. To fill the pen, you would unscrew the section from the barrel of the pen and use the plunger to fill the chamber with ink. This pen was designed after the original Phaeton 300 by Esterbrook. It is kind of a reborn model of the old version of the pen. Get your Esterbrook Phaeton 300R fountain pen at PenChalet.com.

This is a beautiful pen with a beautiful nib. It was the nib that attracted me to this pen. Once I started using it, I realized it was a smooth and quality writer. The nib glides across the page and the pen is comfortable in my hand. I highly recommend this pen. Everything about it is perfect.

It smelled like machinery when I opened my package. The odor did dissipate. It made me think of new cars in the 1960's and 1970's. Actually, everything about the pen makes me think of that. It fits.

This item has become my everyday pen. I like the hooded nib. I got the medium which is finer than a Lamy medium nib. I like it's lightness and use it un posted even though
you can easily write with it in posted mode.

I ordered the Phaeton 300R in Red. Very retro looking pen, feels great in hand and writes well. Just a bit of a hard start at times using regular ink, also a bit of skipping periodically, but perhaps I am just not yet quite comfortable with the hooded nib - this is my first (and my first Esterbrook). Overall I still think it is a beautiful pen and a must have for my collection.

Solid classic design, good balance, lightweight, positive ink flow and durability. This fountain pen is a great everyday writing instrument, the hooded nib can tolerate moderate abuse or accidents the long slip on cap is easy and quick to remove and posts on the body.

I didn't know what to expect from this pen and I was surprised with how nice and sleek it is. I've never used a hooded nib before. I'm enjoying it and the colour is great.

This pen is much more elegant than I first thought. I am a Lamy devotee for many years, but this Phaeton
is receptive to my hand and lays down a smooth, clean line.
