About the Delta Matte Journal
Honoring journalists and freedom of speech, the Delta Matte Journal fountain pen is hand turned from Italian resins. The clip is forged from distinct metal alloy and coated in rhodium to give it strength and flexibility over and over again.
The redesigned Delta Matte Journal comes with a matte finish on the resin with highly polished rhodium trim and a matching stainless steel nib. The pen comes with a cartridge converter fill system.

It has a matte finish on both the cap and the barrel, and this swirling marble type resin, just a nice looking color. Plain top on the cap, just flat across with chrome accents on the pen. The clip just goes right into the cap, there's no band that attaches it, and there is a band, there are a couple of bands here at the bottom of the cap of the pen, and then a small band right here on the barrel as well, and one more at the very end of the barrel of the pen, just a small knob, nothing fancy or particular about that.
The cap is threaded, and unscrews and posts on the end of the barrel of the pen. Decent sized pen, has a small grip section, a little bit of a thread here as it recesses down to the section where you hold the pen. Stainless steel nib with the Delta logo and other etchings engraved on that and the section on the back side. It's a cartridge converter style pen, so that front section unscrews. Comes with an ink converter or those cartridges that I showed you earlier that come included with it.

Delta Matte Journal Video Script
This is the Delta Matte Journal Fountain Pen. It comes in a black and grey cardboard box with the Delta logos all over the top around the box. It has a simple flap lid that opens, and included with the pen is information about Delta. Also included is three ink cartridges. It takes a standard universal ink cartridge, and those are included in the box. And, of course, we have the Delta Matte Journal Fountain Pen.It has a matte finish on both the cap and the barrel, and this swirling marble type resin, just a nice looking color. I purchased the blue Matte Journal at a discount which I thought was a much better price than the retail of $120. The Delta Matte Journal surprised me. Feels great in the hand and is wider than expected. The nib is easily one of my favorite steel nibs and the F was surprisingly fine for a western nib. I enjoy the little wheel roller at the end of the clip which allows for placing in the pocket and removing with ease. Sadly Delta pens are no longer in business. Had they been able to get the retail price into the $70 range these pens would have flown off the shelves. I am aware that the company was in trouble before this pen made it to the market and little could be done to save the company. Regardless, the Matte Journal is a very nice pen if you can find it at a decent price.

What a fantastic pen! The M nib is perfect - wet, smooth as can be, always starts with Noodler's HOD. The cap clip aligns with the nib perfectly when closed. The threaded converter is noteworthy. Flow is great. And - it has the strangest feel in the hand and fingers - the resin is most different in matte. Beautiful marbling and color. Doesn't need posting in my large hand. And the body cap allows filling the converter without removing the nib section - if you want.

A great pen. I really love the materials used and the blind cap to access the converter piston is quite ingenious. Sadly, my job had a bit of a baby's bottom issue upon arrival but once that was corrected this is one of the smoothest, best flowing pens in my collection.

I bought this pen partly because I have two Delta Unicas and like them very much. I took to the Ivory Swirl as soon as I saw it so stepping up to this one was a bit of a no brainer. Anyway, I haven't been disappointed. I should say up front, however, that in my case, the nib is not particularly wet, certainly not as wet as the Unicas are, but that said I should add that I've experienced no hard starts or skipping, and if I wanted a wetter nib I could always spread the tines a little, but it suits me well just as it is.
It's very comfortable to hold posted or unposted, not being particularly back heavy when posted; a nice balance overall. The threads are not at all sharp, and the step down to the section barely noticeable. On the aesthetic side, I like that the section is the same material and swirl as the rest of the body. The clip is the same as the Unica clip, pretty tight but useable, particularly with the little roller on the end.
The nib is pretty large, a #6 I'd say, and smooth without being "buttery" smooth, and the line it lays down is truly pretty fine for a western nib. It's not as fine as most Japanese fines, but it's not too far off.
Overall I'm very pleased with the Journal and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to a friend. Oh, and Pen Chalet's service is excellent.

Got the best price and free shipping from Pen Chalet for this very nice pen. It wrote well out of the box and is very comfortable to write with. It is a beautiful workhorse pen for a reasonable price.

What a great pen. I have a Delta Unica and love that pen so I had a feeling I would love this pen. I love the design and the size is just perfect. The picture on the site does not match the color. It is a beautiful olive color and feels like a very expensive pen. I got the medium nib and it writes beautifully.

When I received this pen it wrote terrible. The tines where miss aligned and it wrote too dry. I was going to send it back but I decided to adjust the nib which made it write great. This is now my favorite pen and I have used it almost exclusively since I got it, even though I have a few gold nib pens. I love the size of the pen especially the width of the section and I write with it posted. Mine is a fine nib and it has some feedback which I love. I highly recommend this pen. Pen Chalet has been great and has had repairs done to two of my pens that were defective.

I own a collection of about 40 fountain pens, from the cheapest to $400 ones. This Delta Matte Journal fountain pen is a great value for the price, even with a steel nib. The quality of the material and of the craftmanship is spectacular and the nib is absolutely fantastic, smooth and a little bit soft; not hard as a nail. I am very happy with this purchase.

The most obvious difference is the finish. The Delta Journal has a glossy finish and the Matte Journal has a dull matte finish. The Delta Matte Journal has a stainless steel nib and also comes with a converter that can be controlled or used like a piston fill mechanism by removing the end of the barrel. The Delta Journal has the Delta Fusion nib and does not come with a converter.
