About Cracked Ice Conklin Duragraph

The Conklin Duragraph fountain pen was originally launched in 1923 and was considered the "definitive" pen. The name comes from a combination of the words durable and graph.

The newly redesigned Conklin Duragraph brings a new fresh look to this timeless fountain pen. The pen is handcrafted from quality resins in three classic finishes. The top of the cap is embellished with Conklin Est. 1898. The band on the cap is engraved with the Duragraph script logo and three Conklin Crescent logos on both sides.

The Conklin Duragraph fountain pen comes as a cartridge/converter style pen with the ink converter included.

Conklin Duragraph Video Script

This is the Conklin Duragraph fountain pen. It comes in a blue faux leather box. We have the Conklin logo printed in gold on the top of the lid. Inside is a nice, soft, white satin interior with the Conklin logo, once again in gold, on the underside of the lid. Included with the pen is two ink cartridges that uses a standard universal ink cartridge, and it also comes with information about Conklin brand and the warranty and use and care guide for the pen.

This is the amber version of the Conklin Duragraph fountain pen. I also have the Cracked Ice version of the pen. In cracked ice, you can see a speckled pattern throughout the barrel of the pen with those white section with black lines running throughout.

The pen has chrome accents and has a nice, large chrome clip, small chrome band at the top and then a black cap at the very top with the Conklin logo printed on it, established 1898. And the amber color, you can see the orange and black patterns. Each of these pens will be unique based on the resin that they use and how that's turned.

On that chrome band, the bottom of the cap, we have Conklin on the front side and then Duragraph really small on the bottom with the Conklin crescent moons. And then the bottom of the barrel is a thin chrome band and a small black cap. The cap is threaded on screws on and off, it can be posted on the pen. It comes with a black grip section and a chrome-colored nib with the gold-colored Conklin logo on the nib. And this is a cartridge converter style pens, so that grip section unscrews from the rest or the barrel. Included with the pen is an ink converter, as well as those cartridges I showed you earlier, so you can use bottled inks with the pen or ink cartridges, which ever you'd prefer.

Conklin is a U.S. brand, makes some great writing instruments. I really like the look of this new pen. Get your Conklin Duragraph fountain pen at PenChalet.com!

Gorgeous pen (cracked ice). A very fun and different resin, perfect for winter! I use these for artwork primarily and find these to be a perfect weight and size. I'm currently using the stub nib with a Diamine Inkvent ink and its a great writer. This writes every time I pick it up!

Surprised. That is how I would describe my experience with Conklin Duragraph EF. I read many reviewers before purchasing the one (which was incredibly discounted on Pen Chalet): there were mixed feelings. Some people felt like it was Ok others just hated it. Mainly there were problems with the nib. What can I say; the nib is beautiful, it writes smoothly (it is an EF, did I say that?). I paired the pen with Monteverdi Midnight Black: beautiful pairing. The finish is lovely. I love this pen, i couldn’t be happier.

Pretty pen. Writes well. Feels good in the hand. I actually like Conklin better than some of the more expensive pens.

I like Conklin pens. They are good pens at a good price. The price at Pen Chalet is even better than other places. The Durgraph is a little thinner than the All American. I like both pens. They are well-made pens.

This pen's colorful resin is what attracted me immediately. I have some showy and glittery fountain pens in my collection, but this Conklin Durograph in amber is sparkly without feeling gaudy. The medium nib writes very well on a variety of papers

A very nice old-standby type of pen, with a great retro design. It is good value for the money. The ink fed poorly on the "fine" nib I tried but the "medium" nib is flowing well. It is comfortable with a slightly pencilly feel with little flex. The cap cannot be posted without scratching the finish but posted the pen is too long anyway.

I'll admit I was a bit worried about this pen when I placed the order (I'd heard about some quality control issues with the nibs). However, I went for the 1.1 stub nib and it was a home run. I love the color, the shape, and the weight, and the nib somehow makes me want to have better handwriting. For the money, it was a great deal, especially given the rising price of fountain pens during the past year or so.

FAQs about the Conklin Duragraph

Q:
I want to know the difference between the fine and medium nib. What are the mm of each? Is the fine point considered an extra fine point or standard?
Asked on Apr 20 2018 by Roger
A:
The fine nib is approximately .5mm and the Medium is approximately .7mm. The Fine nib is a Western Fine, which would be considered a standard fine.
Q:
I must be totally overlooking it, but does it come with blue or black ink ?
Asked on Aug 14 2017 by Scott
A:
The Conklin Duragraph comes with two in cartridges. One blue and one black.
Q:
what is the finish on the 1.1 stub nib? 2 tone, silver or black?
Asked on Apr 19 2015 by Samuel
A:
The Stub nib on the Conklin Duragraph come in either black or silver. The stub nib silver version is only silver while the other nib sizes offer the 2 tone nib. We currently have the black stub nib in stock.
Q:
Can the nib be removed from the feed for cleaning and can the threaded converter be disassembled for cleaning and greasing as well?
Asked on Dec 15 2014 by Kevin
A:
Yes, the pen disassembles for cleaning. The grip section unscrews from the barrel of the pen. The converter then unscrews and the nib and feed section unscrews from the grip section as well.
Q:
Is the cartridge converter screw-in or push-in?
Asked on Nov 5 2014 by Steve
A:
The Conklin Duragraph Fountain Pen comes with a screw in type converter included with the pen. The pen also takes a standard international ink cartridge.
