An extremely affordable, all purpose pen from Sheaffer. These things are bare bones simple and that's what they are made to be. They are meant to be part of your everyday carry. Take this pen to school, to the office, leave it on your desk at work, in your den, at the shop, in your kitchen or where-ever you might need a pen to write something down. Be it a little or a lot. This simple pen is still a Sheaffer and that means something because it writes and writes well. It's priced at such a point here at Pen Chalet that there is almost no reason not to have at least one just to sample inks with. Not a bad pen for a minimal price.

I was somewhat skeptical of this initial reissue of a classic Sheaffer design since coming under new management, but one does not have to be concerned. This pen is a classic design, and is very well made with fit & finish near flawless. This initial reissue only comes in Black and with a Medium point nib size, but I'm sure given time there will be a wider selection to make the pen more appealing. Though it doesn't come with a Gold nib, the writing experience with the Steel nib is near as good as many of my vintage Sheaffer's. It has a snap cap that has a satisfying click when capping the pen, and has kept the pen from drying out. I think it is a pen worthy of carrying on the Sheaffer Legacy (pun intended).

Tried and tested ink. Not as vibrant as I'd like in a purple ink but very good none-the-less.
I went through a lot of issues trying to get the shipment outside the US and Ron was there all the while sorting out the problems and I'm grateful for his support (in spite of my many emails and calls to him with loads of probably impertinent questions and difficulties I was having).

I wanted a super red ink and I finally found it. Sheaffer Skrip red is a bright no-nonsense type of ink. It delivers a beautiful red color. I was truly pleasantly surprised at the quality of Sheaffer ink as I had not owned any ink by that brand before. If you are looking for a red to take notes, for grading, or even just everyday writing, I recommend the Skrip red. I currently have it inked in my TWSBI 580 with a medium nib and the pairing is a success. Thank you Pen Chalet for the excellent service.

When thinking about the Sentinel, simply imagine a Parker Jotter but every so slightly heavier and wider. The pen has a noticeable heft without being too heavy which is somewhat rare for a pen at this price point. Sheaffer ballpoint refills may not be spectacular but they are solid, everyday work horse refills. At the list price of $30, the Sentinel would be slightly over priced. At the sale price of $15 I got from Pen Chalet, the pen is bargain. I bought the white body version. I will likely grab the other editions while it is still on sale.

Like all Ferrari's do, this pen stands out in a crowd. It has great balance in my hand. The flow for the ink I am using is good. The price can not be better for the quality. The only con is the chrome is a little slippery and can get away from you if you are a speed writer.
