Customer Reviews

I've tried R&K Königsblau and Verdigris. Both are great inks in terms of smoothness and quality of ink. I especially love the unique color of Verdigris.

Great empty to use to keep my own mixture of ink. I buy 12 different inks to make my own color.

Caveat emptor!!! Oh boy, when they say "empty bottle" they mean it! You might think it still has like a 1ml splashing at the bottom or something, but no! it's dirty but empty! like no ink in there at all! it looks like an ink bottle, and even has a label on it that says "ink" but it really is just an empty bottle!

Helianthus. What a lovely color! It's a bright/dark enough yellow to be used, in my opinion, but it may be too light for some, I'm which case I suspect it would make a nice highlighter fluid. This is my first R&K ink.

I had been looking forward to trying this ink, after watching some online reviews, and I haven't been disappointed. "Old Golden Green" is a good description. I think it leans a bit more toward green, but it definitely has that extra golden punch that makes it truly unique. I enjoy trying inks that seem to be in a category by themselves, and I think Alt-Goldgrun is definitely one of those.

R and K inks are understated and don't get the attention they deserve. Verdigris is a saturated color that is velvety. Fermanbuk is a very bright color that appears red with some nib/paper combos or a bright pink. Beautiful ink!

Can't say enough good things about the Alt Goldgrun - truly the standout in the RK offerings, and the gold standard when t comes to olive green inks

Much better in design (and presentation) than the Herbin-branded dip pen. The nib is longer, more polished at the tip. The grip seems less cramped.

This is an ink color that though has been years around, its always welcome and re-stocked in my shelve. Shades like angels! Lovely greens, wet, nice flow, for all nibs and pens. A must have. The bottle hold a huge ml and perfect design to ink pens. Fast, secure, well packed delivery even during pandemic 2019-2020 only from Pen Chalet!

This color is exactly as Pen Chalet's photo which is greatly appreciated. Some inks don't bring the sample option but Pen Chalet has always had those that I want to try first before getting a full ink bottle. Always screwed tightly so I never receive them with leaks instead perfectly secure, clean, well packed and fast delivery from Pen Chalet!

“Smaragdgrun” has a bit of blue, a little shading, is strong but with enough reserve to be used on correspondence. Greener than Pelikan’s “Jade”.

Good general use ink. The colors are pretty standard, the Alt Goldgrun being the exception. Stunning shading and a really interesting olive color. All around these are nice every day workhorse type inks. I have not tried the iron gall colors.

Alt goldgrun is one of those colors that might make you happy or not. It's a olive color that can be fairly dark pine green in wetter nibs and lighter, almost yellow-green in drier ones. It's well behaved and is a decent amount for the price. It took me a while to warm up to the color but now it's one of my favorites. As always, try out a sample before committing to a bottle.

I purchased the Salix ink in a bid to find a professional color for work. It's beautiful and permanent and thus far has proven easy to clean out of a pen. I didn't want to mess around with pigment residue in my pens so I thought to try iron gall.
This ink is a lovely color which changes overnight.
It starts off a royal blue, but darkens to a more midnight blue. It's a good ink for sure. Not too hard to clean out thus far.

This is the first time I've ordered from Pen Chalet. Great customer service before the sale. I had some questions and concerns and they answered them all promptly. Ordered this glass pen and am very pleased. Received it promptly and the Pen was very nice. Very good experience overall. Will buy other items from this company anytime.

After preliminary trial it appears to be a very respectable and waterproof ink. Just what I was looking for. It goes onto my "to buy" list.

As others have said, these are the perfect instruments for testing ink, as they are so easy to clean. Obviously, they are beautiful, and the amount of ink they hold is surprising - much larger capacity than metal nibs. Very comfortable writing, and you can control the width a little by tilting the pen.

I purchased Scabiosa because I was looking for a purple ink that wasn't screamingly obtrusive, and I'm pleased to say that Scabiosa hits the right spot. It's a lovely dusty, vintage-y, unsaturated purple that has just enough colour to be interesting on paper without calling too much attention to itself. The fact that this ink holds up under a thorough soaking (never mind a drip test) is the proverbial icing on the cake.
