Great value and extremely durable pen. Smooth writer out the box.

I am very pleased with this pen. I have a medium nib. I've been using it at work and have been pleased with the performance. The nib is responsive with no hard starts. I've also been enjoying the magnetic caping mechanism. It is secure,but still easy to remove for quick notes.

Really liking this writing instrument. It is my first Pineider. Balance is excellent, as is weight and size for my hand. Ink flow with first filling (Namiki Black) of converter is skip free. The fine nib is a bit too wide for my personal preference, hence the "4" rating for functionality. If your preference is for a fine nib though; you cannot go wrong with the Avatar UR Demonstrator. I looked to purchase this pen with an extra fine nib; but none are in stock. I would absolutely purchase one in the future, should they become available with the extra fine nib. The discounted pricing is a sweet bonus. Purchased after viewing Figboot's review.

I purchased this pen on sale from Pen Chalet with an EF nib. It is a fantastic writer and I am convinced that I need to switch to extra fine nibs from medium and fine nibs. The pen is extremely well built especially when you realize that there are no glued parts. The video of the car running over this pen attests to its strength and durability. The magnetic capping is superb. I would definitely consider purchasing another Pineider pen. The Avatar UR demonstrator is a great deal on a quality Italian pen.

The fit and finish of this pen reminds me of a Visconti Periclese and I like everything except the fact the pen doesn’t put ink on the paper consistently. When it works it is good.

I have the Avatar UR in Red, Fine nib. This is a beautiful pen marred by an incredible design error. The grip section is a rubber sleeve fitted over a metal section. When dipped in an ink bottle, capillary action pulls ink up into the tiny space between the sleeve and the metal section. It discolors the sleeve, and worse, the ink then squeezes out unpredictably when you hold the pen to write! I have to fill the pen by pulling off the converter or cartridge and filling it with a hypodermic-like filler. Also I gambled that the Fine nib would be like a Japanese medium, as so many Italian pens are, but no. The medium nib is said to be more of a medium-fine and I'm sure that would be less scratchy on the page. The nib is unusually resilient for a steel nib and quite a pleasure in that regard. The pen is also not exactly made for large hands, although it is tolerable. I find it very visually attractive and well weighted and balanced so I hope they come out with Version 2 that fixes the ink-sucking grip section problem.

I just received the Pineider Avatar UR Demonstrator in red. It is beautiful! The color is like a ruby red and the silver tone accents are really nice. It has a good weight & is comfortable to write with posted or not. I also like the smooth rubberized grip in the same color as the body (rather than a silver tone). The magnetic closure is very handy. My pen is a Medium and it writes very smoothly. I'm so pleased that I just ordered another in blue as this great pen is on sale.

The Avatar writes smoothly and is a good medium weight pen. Compared to other moderately priced fountain pens, it is an excelllent value.

This is my first pineider pen and I’m a little in love with it. I got it in the “final drop” sale, so it came with a medium nib even though i usually prefer fine. That being said, i reach for it all the time anyway. It is SO smooth. Perfect size and comfortable weight.
