Pilot Vanishing Point Collection Fountain Pens Reviews
I read online reviews that said the stub nib was scratchy, so I called Pen Chalet ahead of time to ask if this was the case. They told me that it was like a hot knife through butter, so I went ahead and purchased the Vanishing Point with the stub nib. When I received it I tried it a few times by just dipping the nib in the ink, as they advised; and I thought it was a pretty far cry from a hot knife through butter, but that it would be okay. But as you know it's often hard to get a real feel for a nib without writing with it for a good while. After a few weeks, the scratchy feel of the nib, though slight, is bothering me more and more. I suppose I will have to purchase a loop, some brass shims, some micromesh, etc., etc., to get the nib to feel truly smooth. This annoys the hell out of me because I think it is a reasonable expectation for a premium pen to perform well right out of the box, the way my other fountain pens do. Also, for a premium pen I expected the finish and design to be a little finer. When you look at where the colored barrel meets the metal at either end of the pen, they are not flush. They do not connect smoothly; there is a bump from the metal to the colored barrel because the latter is abruply fatter or bigger in diameter. I am sticking with it because I don't see alternatives in a retractable fountain pen that appeal to me.

Lovely, very smooth nib. The click is very satisfying, but I'm careful not to click the mechanism unnecessarily, because ink comes out of the breather hole if the pen is clicked too aggressively or rapidly.

This Vanishing Point is now my best pen. The overall quality, fit, finish, and the cool factor are everything I expected and read about before I bought it. The gold on red color scheme was the right choice, too. It's gorgeous. Amazing how long this product has been on the market. And of course - the nib and the writing experience are sublime! I love pens, and this is a truly enjoyable experience, just owning it, and most definitely writing with it.

Beautiful pen to look at and to write with. Quickly becoming one of my favorites to use everyday. The pen sits beautifully in your hand and the nib and ink just glide across the page.

Solid, beautiful mechanism. I bought the Stub, which is the preferred width. Turned out it is scratchy, everyone seems to know this. Will need to get a custom grind to smooth it. I Still love the VP, the feel, the weight. Don't know why they made the Stub scratchy, but I still love it. Some say it has factory oils, but I think it needs a grind

I definitely wouldn't want to buy this pen from anywhere other than Pen Chalet. I had a lot of issues with the nib units but their 100% satisfaction guarantee really exists and customer service is great. The clicking mechanism makes this pen easy to use as an EDC. The pen design makes it very functional but the writing experience just isn't as nice as some similarly priced pens (like the Lamy 2000).

Love my Vanishing Point. It right smooth and beautiful I have no problem with the inflow the weight of the pan tells how well-made it is it’s not heavy and it’s not light it’s in between but it’s strong and beautiful. I purchased the blue matte and I have received so many compliments from it. I carry it on my travelers notebook which is my wallet as well ,I’ drop it in my purse and I go. I need it to work with me and I don’t baby it. And it has held up.

This was my first gold nib and I waited years to try it out. It was my most expensive pen purchase to date and finally, on almost a whim I pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I did! It's an excellent pen and one of my favorite's to write with. Once you get yourself over the hurdle of crossing that price point, I feel you'll be pleasantly surprised; I know I was.
