Opus 88 Jazz Fountain Pens Reviews

I love this pen. I'm a huge fan of the opus 88s and this is my 5th opus 88 pen. I love the elastic nib i got. It's a wet EF writing experience with an option to flex for more character in the writing when I feel like it. I love the large ink capacity and I love the shade of the transparent blue in the cap and in the end cap. I was a little surprised the slightly different shade of blue of the barrel (a dusty lighter blue), I guess because it's been hollowed out for the large ink capacity. But overall I love this point for this price point too.

Beautiful blue resin. I love the feel of the large size of this pen. It’s easy to grip for people with hand strength issues. It’s not too heavy either. I also love the extra-fine nib. It’s smooth with a little feedback. This is my 2nd Opus 88. My first was an Omar in Amethyst.

I like this pen so much I bought it twice

This pen is outstanding. If you like a bigger pen in your hand, this is your ticket to happiness and hours of quality writing. I have the "very fine" point and it is great. The pen is well designed, the ink flow is always ready to go and I have had no problems with drips, leaking, or blotting. This is my "Go To" pen. Love it.

After enjoying the amber body black top Jazz so much I returned to order the red body black top too. Form and function with an enormous capacity for ink, these are perfect for people who love to write with big pens! They are surprisingly lighter than you'd expect, thus comfortable for long writing sessions. Great price for a great pen with a good nib too. Haven't tried the solid color body style ones yet, but I'll be back.

The Jazz is a beautiful pen. A hair longer than the Omar but thinner, is a very nice large sized pen. Holds a tremendous amount of ink. It posts well and the EF fine writes wonderfully.

Comfortable WRITE-ALL-DAY, Gorgeous, Dependable—

I had my my first Jazz on a 2 month road trip for work, in and out of bags, writing every day, even was in glove box all day in a parked car in 117 degrees out sude ambiant temp in June 2021- Zero problems.

I have tested all my pens for multi hour writing sessions- zero hand fatigue- It’s the one i reach for if my hands are cramping with outher writing instruments. Only my Scribo pen equals it for comfort and ink volume( but my Scribo is too expensive to take out of tge house)

This is my second Jazz pen. The blue is so nice.

If you need a new nib you can get Opus 88 branded sized nibs to fit or your fav sized 6 nib. This is very very nice.
It is easy to clean.

note: i have very small hands but the section and body of the pen are very easy to use and unbelievably C-O-M-F-O-R-T-A-B-L-E.

I only have 23 pens in my collection: (5 vintage gifted from relatives plus 5 vintage - Sheaffers, 1 Mont blanc, 1 Elysse), a Benu Tatoo, and a Benu hexagon, a beloved Scribo, 2 Aurora stylists .. nice and a favorite., and a few others.. in comparison to these- most pens feel like fimsey junk even if the nib is ok.

i’m taking “inky rocks” ‘s : 30 days, one pen, one ink, one paper ( contemplation) - the pen is going to be THIS BLUE pen- the paper will be my endless note book from
Pen Chalet, and my ink will be Van Diemin’s ink ( from Pen Chalet) cloudburst , or perhsps Abyss..

This pen is among the best.

My recommendation to first pen users is: don't get an Ahab, a preppy, a 74, get an Opus 88... its a faithful pen!

(Platinum Plaisiers ( and clean them well first) are an ok first pen- )

This was one of the pens that initially I got just for the gorgeous light blue color, having never tried anything from Opus before. But writing with this has been amazing! This pen has quickly become my daily carry and easily my most used pen along with my Pelikan and decimos. The only issue I have with it is that sometimes it will cut off writing if I leave it open too long without writing but then if I twist the piston it will start right back up. The nib on this is steel but it’s easily better then some of my gold nibs. Now I am super excited to try more pens from opus!
