You get what you pay for.
Good pen for the money but not sure why bother.

I bought several of these pens as holiday gifts for my engineers and scientists. They use them frequently and for most of them this is their first experience with a fountain pen. I have several, mostly Lamys, although I do have a Monteverde Invincia Deluxe, so I thought this would be a good starter pen for them.
They are mostly very satisfied with the pens, which after having a lifetime of writing with disposable ballpoints, seem very solid and clearly an improved writing experience. Everyone comments on how refreshing it is for the nib to move on the paper. They generally use the piston mechanism to refill them and are having fun experimenting with new types of ink. The compression fitting on this pen is a nice touch since with my Invincia unscrewing the cap can result in unscrewing the pen body.
However the nibs on these dry out frequently when stored. You start writing and nothing happens. One of my engineers frequently finds herself shaking her hand violently to get the ink going again. This happens also with my Invincia and I sent it to Monteverde for repairs. It was fine for a few weeks then it started again. Since it also happens with the Limonada I'll assume it's a design flaw with the company's pens. This does not happen with my Lamy Studio or 2000.
That's the reason for the lower rating on quality. Otherwise the pen is superb.

I am new to the hobby of Fountain Pens. I luckily found Penchalet. I placed an order Monday which by the way was a Holliday, and it arrived on Friday. Wonderful product. A beautiful pen for a beginner and I'm sure for a seasoned hobbyist. I was in the service industry for many years and I can not believe the MAGNIFICENT service and speed provided to me. You have a life long customer with me. THANK YOU!!

The Monteverde Limonada is an excellent starter fountain pen. The Limonada has a sleek, intelligent design and costs under fifty US dollars. It is a very smooth writer and is not too wet or too dry. I highly recommend the Limonada, it is definitely better than many 100 dollar pens. It surely will not disappoint!
