My first disappointment was the color of the last pen I bought, I thought it would be purple but it's more "burgundy" aside from that, I still think Lamys are great pens in general.

I replaced my old AL-Star when the plastic part broke at the threads. This was not due to normal use, the pen fell from a height, but it's probably a design flaw. It's a good pen for the money. I use the refillable piece which comes separate, so then I'm not limited to Lamy inks. The pen I received from Pen Chalet was defective (bent nib) but they replaced it immediately without any charge to me. Very professional service.

My first non-disposable fountain pen was a Lamy, and I'm a huge fan of the company. The Copper-Orange Al-Star is a beautiful pen, besides being well-designed, well-constructed, and dependable. I also like my pens light, and the Al-Star certainly fits the bill. It's my every day pen, and will likely remain so for a long time to come.

I just got the Lamy AL-Star in black last week and Wow, what a great purchase. Pen Chalet had a great sale price for Memorial Day so I ordered my first Lamy and could not be happier. I ordered the Fine nib and expected the fine like the Japanese pens I own and was quite surprised with the line it produced. It is somewhat bolder but not in a negative way. It writes so smooth and with the all black (including the nib) surface looks really sharp. I have the J. Herbin Orange Indien in the pen (also on sale on Memorial day)and it writes real will. I hoped for more color in the ink, but it write well in the pen.
I could not be happier with Pen Chalet, most of my supplies come from them and always on time and great prices. I just have to stop watching their sales or I’ll end up spending all my lose cash.

This is my fourth AL-Star (third from TPC) What can I say? Either this a great pen and a great vendor or I'm a raving masochist. I'm pretty sure that the latter is not applicable. Each of my AL-Stars is charged with a different colour ink and all are used on a daily basis. Kudos to Ron and Jill of The Pen Chalet!

If you're new to fountain pens this is a must have introductory fountain pen. The price is quite low with very high quality build and materials to give a good idea of what a fountain pen is like. Even if you're not new to fountain pens it's a must have because it's smooth, fits your hand very comfortably, and is sturdy in its construction. I have two of these and they're amazing pens that deserve the 5 stars I'm giving them.

I just bought the Copper Orange Al-Star with an EF Nib. I love the color. The only thing that was slightly off was the nib. This is the first time I have ever had a Lamy nib that I would call "scratchy." It wasn't a big deal because I had another EF nib in my possession, so I just traded it out. Otherwise, the quality is the same as ever--that is, terrific. And Pen Chalet is incredibly helpful.
