I like the convenience of these cartridges, but unlike the bottled versions of the same colors, I have problems with the ink smearing at times. I suppose it makes sense that the composition of the ink would be slightly different.

I have used both the black and the Emerald inks. I prefer the Emerald because it's different. I think that will be my signature ink for communication.

With a Monteverde pen I chose a purple ink to go with the new pen. It needs a few minutes with the feed, otherwise it is more of a Periwinkle blue instead of a rich purple. The cartridges are good for several pages. There is no mess, very easy to clean up.

If you find you are out of ink on a regular basis, consider getting this 12 pack of ink cartridges. Each cartridge will not last longer than what you maybe using now, but there are more than what is in the usual five or six package of ink cartridges. This means you will have more time between panic situations where you must go out and buy more ink.

I like keeping extra cartridges around for my pens, in case the convertor runs dry. Its easier to pop one of these in, rather than taking ink along with you if you aren't at home.

I purchase ink cartridges for my fountain pen from Pen Chalet. They fit my pen and arrived before the projected date. I use my fountain pen for writing and drawing.
