This is a lovely ink. It starts off a deep blue, rather dull. But once it dries, it sheens to a purple-red that is rather metallic. I find it to be quite lovely. The ink flows very well (Monteverde Dakota - med nib), no hesitations or skips.

I put the Private Reserve Crazy Train color ink in a Noodler's Triple Tail demonstrator. The combination is but an eyelash from perfection, with ample flow and 10+ seconds drying time on Clairefontaine paper. The shimmering elements are present, adding a soupçon of interest, but not so much so as to be obnoxious. This is a grand ink. If you like shimmer, if you like dark turquoise inks, or if you like old-school heavy metal music, you owe it to yourself to buy a bottle.

This is a beautiful juicy ink. I don’t know why, but I expected some “cheap” “thin” ink. Maybe that makes sense to someone. (I once bought a bottle of no brand ink off AliExpress-price was good. When it arrived it was a TINY bottle of basically lightly tinted water. I was prepared for THAT). Wow… this private reserve ink is super premium. Colors deep and saturated. Flow is juicy and simultaneously the ink feels thick. I intend to buy one of every color… eventually. This was another great purchase from Pen Chalet. Pen Chalet has NEVER let me down

They work great for misc chores ~ 1/2 to 3/4 filled with lead shot (#9) to support small ink bottles that can't hardly stand on their own when used to refill a fountain pen. You might not have the same problem such as I have trying to use one of these small, easily tip over ink bottles, but this method for supporting a small bottle of ink surrounded by small lead shot (#9) works really well. The wide mouth of these Private Reserve ink bottles are great for this. :-)

These inks (got 3 pearlescent) have a very fine shimmer that floats to the surface as the ink dries. The “color” therefore comes off as a pastel. The flow and consistency of shimmer are great. There’s just a bit of smearing after drying as with most shimmers. Overall, very nice ink.

I was skeptical about this ink, but I've had it loaded on a pen that tends to dry out on me, even when capped, and it is like a new pen. The Blue color is actually nice, and it has some nice shading. I worried that it would dry slowly, but it behaves like any standard ink, with normal dry times. I am pleased and would certainly buy it again.
