Pelikan Pura Video Script

This is the Pelikan Pura P40 fountain pen. If comes in a grey cardboard box with the Pelikan logo printed in brown on top. That cardboard box slides off. Inside is a nice soft leather pouch containing the pen as well as the informational instructions in the bottom of the box.

Inside of the pouch is the Pelikan Pura fountain pen. This is the blue version of the Pelikan Pura with chrome accents. On the top of the cap we have the Pelikan logo and a chrome clip. The clip flares out at the end making it nice and easy to slide into your pocket. It has a hinge top to it. On the bottom of the cap is printed Pelikan and on the backside of the cap Germany.

There is a chrome band that runs around the barrel and transitions into a vertical bar then back to a chrome band at the bottom of the barrel. At the very end of the barrel is a chrome cap.

The cap on this pen is a friction fit and simply pulls off and can be posted onto the pen. It comes with a chrome colored nib and a chrome nib section with a slight black ring.

To replace the ink, this is a cartridge style pen, we simply unscrew the nib section from the barrel. Included with the pen is one ink cartridge which can be found inside of the barrel. A blue ink cartridge comes with the pen but you can always replace it with another color. There is a variety of colors of ink cartridges.

This is a nice writing instrument. Pelikan is a German brand. They make some great pens. Get your Pelikan Pura fountain pen at PenChalet.com!

Love the weight and smooth writing of this fountain pen. This pen is now my favorite for writing. I would definitely buy it again.

As an "amateur" pen collector I have only a little exposure to the scores of fine writing instruments out there. I bought the Pelican Pura a few days before I bought the Monteverde Sequoia. The Pura writes well. It is an attractive pen, kind of in a traditional way. I like the modest feedback("scratchy ?), the feel of the pen in hand.Compared to the Sequoia I guess I prefer the large size of the Sequoia and it's write character (smoother ?) a little more. Glad I bought both. It seems both write as well as my Lamy 2000.

I love this pen's look. It is very sleek and modern, not quite industrial and not quite classical, but very elegant. My only complaint is that the nib is very hard and doesn't flex at all. If you've ever used a Rotring 600, it's pretty close to that. It is not a deal breaker by any means, it's still a great pen and fun to use.

Very nice pen. It writes well and has a nice balanced feel. Note that you can't post the cap, but this is only a minor concern given the quality of the writing and the excellent look.

I thought being a German made fountain pen that this pen would be of higher quality. I ordered mine in a Fine Point Nib and have been disappointed in the nib. The nib is scratchy. Ink flow is not consistent.
My Conklin Duragraph with an EF Bock Nib is a much better writer than the Pura. It's smoother and the ink flow is consistent.

The Pelikan Pura blue extra-fine is a well made and very nice writing pen. The nib is smooth for an EF, with good flow. The cap snaps on smartly to post or enclose, and the finish is perfect. Unfortunately I don't use this pen because the chromed grip is too slippery for me, but this doesn't seem to affect other people. I recommend it if that isn't an issue for you.

I love Pelikan fountain pens, the way the ink flows well with the cartridge and nib - just the right amount. And the style of the Pura is wonderful - the right balance in the hand. And Pen Chalet fulfilled the order quickly and efficiently.

I purchased the Pura in black with an EF nib. This pen is wet writing, yet still between a Lamy Studio EF and a Pilot F as far as line width. The pen has a nice “heavy” feel that denotes quality, but is not fatiguing to use. The length unposted is fine, and posted is excellent. The nib is incredibly smooth, and has some line variation when you apply pressure. The clip is beautifully springy.

The one negative is the filling system on the pen. It’s a standard international cartridge converter pen, but the nub that you push your cartridge or converter onto doesn’t hold the cartridge or converter at all. These must be held in place with the back of the pen body once it’s screwed on. This means that using a twist-piston-style standard international converter (Schmidt, Monteverde, etc) can cause the piston to turn down a bit and expel some ink. If you use a long cartridge, this is not a problem, but cartridges are wasteful and limiting color wise. If you choose to refill your cartridge, I have to think over time the pressing on it will cause the cartridge plastic to wear out and leak. If you use a short cartridge, you’ll have to double stack them to keep them in place. It’s an irritating design decision at this price.
