Customer Reviews

very hefty pen, no ink cartridge comes with it and it came in a little plastic bag. definitely a "no frills, lots of thrills" type pen, for the price, you get a lot of pen for your money. will make great stocking stuffers!!

If you have a larger hand or like a larger pen you will find this pen very attractive. The screw cap fits on the barrel with ease which gives the 159 a nice balance and very smooth writing. If you are using cartridge ink, the barrel is long enough to store a spare cartridge. The fit and finish of the 159 gives the pen an expensive look. Overall I am very pleased with the 159 and would recommend this pen to anyone regardless of the inexpensive price.

Really a surprising product, considering the price. The pen writes superbly and is extremely comfortable to hold. All things considered, this could be my go to pen.

This pen looks quite gorgeous in the red I chose. I filled it with De Atramentis Jasmine ink and it wrote beautifully straightaway. I was pleasantly surprised to find it has an 18k gold-plated ink, which writes smoothly, with good flow. It's a perfect size for a medium-sized hand, somewhere between small and large. It has a lovely Zeppelin shape. I forget which size nib I ordered and it doesn't say on the back of it, however the back of the nib has a very nice design on it. It seems to be European broad. A delightful feature of it is that it also writes and flows well on the back of the nib - much finer, a nice contrast to the broad. Two nibs in one! I treasure my other $500 pen, but in value for money, the Jinhao leaves it for dead. I'm very happy with it.

I own quite a few fountain pens, and I was amazed
at how well the Jinhao X750 writes. It comes close to the "high end" fountain pens, both in performance and style. I true value for the price.

Beautiful writing implement and with such elegant details and styling, and for the price, and exceptional bargain. Writes wet and is ready at nearly every start. I have used a variety of inks by different Makers/manufacturers, and it performs well, never leaks and is an attention-grabber, where ever I am. The large two-time nib is very classy and the body's design is first rate for a "value" taunted price point.
I like this pen for my upscale and dressy outtings. Thank you Pen Chalet for offering such a wonder. And this pen will last!

I must say that the Jinhao 159 fountain pen is a real nice pen. If you like a chunky traditional looking pen this is the one. It writes extremely well and smooth. I can't think of anything negative about the pen, especially for the price. Same goes for the Jinhao x450 which a purchased as well. I use both pens every day and I really like using them.

I must say that I was impressed with the Jinhao 159. I have a bigger hand and I like the big chunky pen and the bit heavier feel of the pen. I ordered a number of items my first time around including the Jinhao X450. This pen is also a really great looking and feeling pen. They both write extremely well and the nibs are great. After a few days of not using them, I picked the pens up and they started to write right away. I must also comment that I had a minor little problem with one of the orders once I received it and I contacted Pen Chalet to explain. "NO QUESTIONS ASKED" Ron immediately replaced my order within 2 days. I am very impressed and happy with Pen Chalet. I will definitely be doing business with them for all my Pen needs.

I am new to fountain pens- however I just came from a International Pen Show today.
The quality of the instruments that cost hundreds more and this one- I could not tell the difference.
Once again I am a newbie-

This is my second X450. It looks and feels much more quality than the price would suggest. The largest drawback of the pen is the converter--it does not fit well in the pen at all and does not stick well. After managing to get it to "latch" and finally be able to draw ink into the converter, a few days later it "unlatched" and was loose in the barrel of the pen. Fortunately this wasn't a total disaster. I purchased a Standard International Monteverde converter to use the second time around. Much better experience with filling and latching :-). The nib on this pen writes very smoothly. It's been a great addition to my collection with a small work around.

This pen writes like a dream. I have bought cheaper pens and they only work half the time. This one was opened, put ink in and began writing. I is a great value. Love the medium nib.

What a great pen for a little price! The nib is fantastically smooth right out of the box. The metal body has a little "cheapness" about it, but if someone didn't know, they'd mistake it for a more expensive pen. The Galaxy finish is what I would call "faux raden", giving the impression of the beautiful Japanese abalone shell inlay. I'm certainly happy with the pen and, as always, Pen Chalet's great service.

Inked with Kon-Peki asure blue ink in included converter. Writes smooth and consistent, subtle bleeding. I like both the form and the functionality of this pen, a great deal at this price point.
