Montegrappa Elmo Ambiente Fountain Pens

The Montegrappa Elmo Ambiente fountain pen the Italian pen maker's classic 1920's design reinvented for the 2020s; the classic with a conscience. Carved from recycled resin, the Montegrappa Elmo Ambiente fountain pen represents Montegrappa's first foray into artisanal plastics. The classic carved cigar-shaped profile is paired with a contoured chevron pen clip, steel trim, and steel filigree nib.

In designing their newest release, Montegrappa considered the lifecycle of raw materials beyond the product and reached out to a Welsh studio, Smile Plastics, to collaborate on the unique design.

Smile Plastics was founded by artisans and specializes in innovative architectural surfaces. Their client list includes many of the leading names in conscious design and fashion. Montegrappa was drawn to the studio because of their resourcefulness and the raw honesty that you can see in their finished products.

Montegrappa also commissioned a suite of desk accessories from a local artisanal stationery supplier, Arbos, located just eight kilometers from Bassano to help create products from reconstituted leather, textiles, and paper. Each of the items expanded Montegrappa’s exploration of more sustainable production methods for the Montegrappa Elmo Ambiente fountain pen.

Fountain pens are available in a variety of nib sizes: EF, F, M, B, or 1.1 stub.

The Montegrappa Elmo Ambiente fountain pen is also available as a rollerball or ballpoint pen.
