J Herbin Spiral Glass Reviews
Love these dip pens. They are a bit pricey but one gets what they pay for. The nib is silky smooth so is easy to use on many different paper types from rough to smooth and silky. J Herbin glass pens are well worth the extra few dollars one pays for them, and the colors are just lovely. The only thing this pen can't exactly do well is dip into the Ferris Wheel Press's charger bottles. The nib is just a little fat to get into the opening, but that is a very minor issue. And one small caution, the tip, being glass can get chipped if one is not careful, but that is the same for any glass dip pen. With very fine sandpaper the chips can often be smoothed out (I chipped the tip off one of my dip pens and used some very fine grit sandpaper to smooth out the tip. It isn't perfect but is still quite functional)

This item is completely new to me. I had never heard of glass pens until I saw this one advertised on the Pen Chalet Web site. I find that it is very easy to write with and is especially handy for experimenting with different colors of inks, for example, the small 5 ml sample bottle of Colorverse inks, because it is so easy to clean. I love this pen and try to use it every day, if only to play around with the few colors of ink I have collected so far.

I LOVE THIS GLASS PEN!! I just worry I might drop it or it might roll off my desk. The color is a very nice shade. I primarily use it for testing new inks to see if I like them, rather than using one of my fountain pens. It looks so elegant, I feel bad when I'm using it wearing ratty sweats and a hat. I think to do it justice, it needs a lovely vintage pen rest. Otherwise I enjoy writing with it and improving my penmanship, and maybe taking a try at Calligraphy!

This was my 1st Herbin glass dip pen. It is lovely! It is true to color in the photo - a pale peach. It arrives in a well-padded, and very sturdy, presentation box. The pen has some weight to it, and is more comfortable to write with than another glass pen I own. I was surprised to find a 1"-square piece of fine-grit sandpaper in the box, up near the writing tip. That was a bonus, and I appreciate them tucking it in to the boxes for future use. I used this pen to write out samples of probably 20+ inks last week, and found that it wrote nicely and went back to the clear tip with only one dip in a glass of water. Sadly, the last of the sample inks that I used, "DeAtramentis Document Fuchsia", has permanently stained the tip to a pale pink color. I miss the clear tip, but I'll still use it, as it is fun to write with. I find I write slower and more deliberate with it, and I just enjoy looking at it as I write. It really is a pretty pen. This pen would make a nice gift as it is well-made and boxed nicely.

These glass pens are a *dream* to write with. They are also just the most gorgeous of the Herbin glass pen designs in my opinion. They catch light so beautifully! The only down side is if you're using an ink that's close in color to the glass handle, you might have find the best angle to be sure your nib is actually clean that isn't just the glass catching the color of the handle. I seriously did not know how nice writing with glass could be. These are very well designed with the nib grooves holding plenty of ink to keep you writing for a while without dipping--the height of dip pen technology!

I absolutely love the spiral glass in blue. I was going to purchase a different one off of Amazon, I am glad I didn’t. It is absolutely beautiful, just the weight of it and the design makes it all worth it.

This is a beautiful glass dip pen. Although it does not have variation of writing because it is not flexible, it writes beautifully.

Very happy with this pen. J herbin is high quality manufacturer overall. I would recommend this dip pen to anyone looking to write frequently with one. I would categorize the nib size as medium to Broad.

FAQs about the J Herbin Spiral Glass
Q:
Is this a typo, when it says you can write a whole page in one dip? I had one years ago, and my only complaint was that it could only write a few words before drying out. Have the pens been redesigned?A:
No it is not a typo, the pens have a twisted design to hold more ink.
