I love getting the Inkvent calendars. It's such fun to try a wide variety of inks that are new to me. This year there are quite a few pigment inks. I love how vivid they are, and Diamine swears they're fountain pen safe, but I'm cautious and will probably reserve them and other specialty inks for dip pen use. I do wish the calendar included more standard ink options since those are the type I'm most likely to buy a real bottle of if I like the sample, but I get why they're only a subset of the offerings. In any case, buying through Pen Chalet was a great experience that I can recommend to everyone.

Good ink, it is waterproof! Make sure it fully dries though! It's a little dry to write with if you wanna write with it, but I use it for line art for wet media pieces like watercolor and it's been treating me well. Got Raven black and Honeypot, haven't tried Honeypot yet but the raven black is a lovely deep black.

I have a soft spot for shimmerink inks; however, some are trouble, especially for fine nibs. This one (Golden Ivy) is fantastic. I love the shade and shimmer, and it flows nicely from my fine-nibbed Fountain Pen Revolution pen. Make sure you experiment on cheap pens when you use shimmerink inks-- but this one, so far, has been very well behaved.

Polar Glow is a great blue with HIGH red sheen. It really does look like is is glowing on the page. I have it in a Pilot Custom 742 with a flex nib and it looks amazing on the page.

I picked up the “Ghost” ink as I love greys. This comes off as a medium graphite grey with the slightest hint of lavender. Best in a broader nib to show it off. Flow and drying are great!

How can you go wrong with Diamine? I am over the moon with this purple set, what fun! The FS one this year is amazing, definitely getting Raise A Glass if/when they bring it out in the regular line. This was my first Inkvent Calendar and now I am hooked. Fun to anticipate opening a new ink each day, fun to try some colors and formulations I might otherwise never try, and especially fun to find one or two that become instant favorites. I bought a full bottle of the Deck the Halls as soon as it came out. I went back to see what colors existed from the Red and Blue calendars, and found a few others that I had to nab at full size. A few are too light to use, or too PINK (I never use pink), or are scented (often triggers my asthma). With that said, this is still a very worthwhile product and I'll be looking for the Inkvent Calendar each year.

Purple Inkvent is my second inkvent calendar. I find these calendars to be a huge amount of fun - there are always a few interesting surprises, several solid choices, a variety for novelty use, and then, sadly, a few that are disappointing. These for me include anything too light to be useful for writing and anything scented. There were two scented inks this year which I won't bother to open. But the good far outweighs the bad, and I hope they continue this tradition. The quality of the ink is consistently high, and it seems as time goes on the glitter inks being produced are causing less clogging in my pens. I like this set even better than my previous one (Green Inkvent) which has an ink that's become a favorite ink for me (Deck the Halls.
