I recently picked up a bottle of Nagasawa Kobe ink in Bordeaux (50ml) and finally had a chance to test it out—and I have to say, I’m impressed. I’ve tried a lot of inks over the years, but there’s something really special about this one. I used it with my Monteverde MP1 OmniFlex fountain pen, which can be a bit particular about flow, and the Kobe ink in Bordeaux handled it like a champ. Smooth, consistent lines with just the right amount of shading—no skipping, no hard starts. It brought out a really expressive quality in the flex nib without getting too wet or messy. The color I chose Bordeaux is absolutely stunning. It’s saturated but not overbearing, and it has that subtle Japanese elegance that’s hard to put into words. I’ve used it for both journaling and signing some documents, and it somehow fits both moods perfectly. Dry time was reasonable (about 10–15 seconds on my nicer paper), and I didn’t notice any feathering or bleed-through. It behaved well across the board, which is always a relief. The bottle itself is a solid 50ml of well-designed charm—easy to fill from, and it looks great on my desk. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into both the ink and the presentation. If you’re curious about Kobe inks, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try. This one quickly earned a spot in my regular rotation.

I Love Kounan Maroon! It’s my default for my Omas “Vespucci Red” of which I’m now down to three bottles. Nice ink, dries quickly when making notes. Going to check out their other colors!
