The Clairefontaine paper company quickly became one of the most important factories in the region. In 1890 Clairefontaine started manufacturing notebooks.

Beautiful, old-fashioned (with lining) envelope. Makes you want to use your best script handwriting.

How Pen Chalet can retail these notebooks for such a low cost blows my mind. Cheapest place I can find to get Clairefontaine notebooks. I wish they had dot grid, all I could find were lined. The paper is incredibly smooth, the binding seems to be holding up, doesn't lay perfectly flat, but with a little training is an absolute pleasure to write in.

I made me a very large splatter/swatches book out of the blank paper sheets. I can appreciate all my inks with big beautiful ink splatters. The paper is very nice for writing on also. Like the blank pages more the lined paper, for my projects.

These are luxurious envelopes, too good for everyday use, yet I use them everyday! They are too thick to feed into my typewriter but take fountain pen ink beautifully.

High quality papers at very reasonable prices. No bleeding, feathering or ghosting with any of the inks I've used. Clairefontaine is a favorite for their bright white and velvety smooth papers. Would love to see sizes up to A4 carried by PenChalet, as well as their French-lined notebooks.

What can I say. It's fountain pen friendly and has a smooth texture. I like it and would recommend it.

It's Clairefontaine paper; it works well for showing off beautiful Ink without breaking the bank and feels more substantial than Tomoe River, which can come off looking cheap to those that don't know better.

When you spend the time and funds to write a beautiful letter on paper that shows off the unique qualities of a fine ink, the envelope you send it off in should look just as nice. This fills that need.

I like the lined envelopes much better than the unlined. They’re more substantial and have a better feel.

Same Clairfontaine quality as always. I thought this was bound on the side, but it's bound on top. I need to pay closer attention. It doesn't really matter, though. It's nicely bound.

These are not staple bound as far as I can see. They are bound with adhesive, which is better. They tear off neatly and are just the thing for field notes when bird watching and for shopping lists. The graph paper allows for sketching and is a pleasure to use.

These are all I use for letter writing, and I can write really long ones. I prefer the plain paper as my writing style feels inhibited with the one with lines, but sometimes pen shops are out of the plain. Great paper, IMO.
