this pen is great, i hope it comes back in stock so i can pick up a second one .
the one a received had a duel color nib... gold with silver accent, i think it's nicer than the one that's in this picture.
i think the cap is my favorite part, as it is machined and fitted beautifully and really makes the hole pen fill like a luxurious item...
There is one major down side to this pen, that buyers should be aware off... the bronze metal connector that connects the ink reservoir, nib and abalone body can come loose, when this happens the nib can stick far enough out that the act of screwing on the cap can bend the nib.
Unfortunately we discovered this after the damaged had been done.
It's also important to note that there are no gold, or gold with silver matching replacement nibs, so if you do damage your nib you will need to settle for a silver nib which in my opinion downgrades look and feel of the pen.
I ended up unbending the nib, but the nib is not as nice as before the accident.

The Makatao is a good daily use pen. I normally like to post my pens, but this one becomes a little top heavy when posted. However; it's great when not.

Love this pen! It's pretty. No it's interesting to look at. It is heavy. The Rose gold finish is very nice. And the BB nib is fabulous! It writes beautifully, not too wet, not too dry. I am glad I bout this!

Very nice pen, writes well a little wet, only problem I am finding is that when left for couple of days it takes a little work to get the ink running but once running pen is beautiful to write with, pen is lovely to look at and hold, slightly larger which I enjoy.

I was told that 3952 had been the legendary pen in Taiwan. It has been difficult to buy this brand from abroad but now I am so pleased to be able to get it from Pen Chalet. Anyway, I can testify this pen really really lives up to its fame. Style and value may be subjective in some perspectives, but its overall craftsmanship is just excellent. One best design is the close cap that create an air tight vacuum to keep the ink relatively fresh at tip over two weeks. Therefore, this pen never stops pumping out ink consistently and the tip also flexes just right if you want to try a little calligraphy style during writing. Overall, to write with this pen is like skiing on butter snow....it is just so smooth with no hiccup whenever you want to try figure skiing once in a while. Anyway, at this price, just can't go wrong at all. Hope my positive review does not encourage the vendor to raise the retail price. ;0)

I picked up the pen because it suited so many qualities that I like in a pen for my collection. I was pleasantly surprised too, especially when I didn't have many expectations (despite reading other very favourable reviews). The pen is a little on the heavy side because of the metal, but it has nice balance when writing and drawing. The abalone shells look beautiful and I really like the etched pattern on the cap as well! The nib writes out of the box, consistent and great ink flow with a touch of feedback, typical of bock nibs that I know of. Overall an excellent pen and great value if you're looking for something unique to add to your collection or even as an everyday writer.

An Abalone pen at a great price. If you like Abalone then pick one up. It has a nice nib with a little line variation to boot. Product style is rated above average only because I wish it had an Abalone cap too. A very nice pen indeed.

Solid pen. Love the magnetic closure. The nib is good, not the smoothest I own but a good writer. Pen is well balanced, and not as heavy as expected giving the metal content of the body.
