About the Rotring Rapid Pro
The Rotring Rapid Pro mechanical pencil has a full metal body with great balance and a non-slip knurled grip. The 0.5mm and 0.7mm models come with a cushioned lead mechanism while the 2.0mm model comes with a precision lead advancement mechanism. The cushioned lead mechanism and sliding sleeve create a mechanical pencil that resists lead breakage and an outstanding writing instrument.
On the thicker 2.0mm lead model there is a built in sharpener under the push button cap and a unique push button mechanism for lead transportation.

This is the silver version of the pencil. It also comes with a matte black version of the pencil. This has a silver finish with also a kind of a dull silver barrel, and then the shiny chrome-colored accents on the pen. It has a black plastic cap. You can actually see inside the cap there. Chrome-colored cap and top section here with the rOtring logo engraved there on the clip of the pen. This cap comes off. In some models, you'll have an eraser. This particular model's a 2.0 mm, so this is an actual pencil sharpener for the pencil. Keep that lead nice and sharp. rOtring rapid PRO in gray here on the side of the pencil with the 2.0, just means the size of the lead. It also comes with a 0.5 mm or 0.7 mm. Red band here between the grip section and the barrel of the pen. Nice knurled grip. I really like the grip, makes it easy to use, to hold onto the pen. And then you can see that actual tip of the pencil is a nice chrome color. Precision lead advancement, simply clicking that cap and your lead extends.

You can see the rOtring logo in red with the Germany 1928 and the Rapid Pro logo. More information about rOtring's also on the bottom of the box. Couple flaps here on this lid that we pull out. The black pen is simply lovely, and the engraved script name shows the brass underneath beautifully. I simply cannot imagine a better, more exquisite realization of what I had envisioned! It is a gift for my oldest son on attaining his Ph. D. after years of hard work. So it had to be special, and so it is. He takes notes in pencil,and annotates the articles and books he reads in pencil, and the personalized Rotring will remind him of the pride I take, as a fellow college professor, in his accomplishment. I have the 2mm silver color model. This pencil feels incredible. I love the grip. The mechanism works well, though I find myself wishing it were a drop clutch mechanism often. The included lead is pretty decent, though a bit too light, and also with mediocre point retention. It is quite long, though. The built-in lead pointer in the back does work in a pinch, but is not that great - you’ll need a separate lead pointer. It’s too bad PenChalet doesn’t sell 2mm lead and lead pointers...
